" High school is killing me!
It's got me all out of rhythm and my melody
It's not cool, It's a fallacy
It's a cruel and unusual brutality

And I can survive it for only so long
High school is killing me!
I'm so fucking dead . "

MAY FOSTER IS SPECIAL AND NOT IN THE LAME-ASS WAY THAT PARENTS TELL THEIR CHILDREN. She is weird, wrong, a freak. Everyone in Hatchetfield knows about the Foster sisters. Lex, the eldest, a high school dropout who works at Toy Zone, Lex has been providing for her two younger sisters since she was old enough to get a job. Hannah, the youngest, a sophomore at Hatchetfield High School, most people in Hatchetfield suspect that Hannah was dropped as a baby because it wasn't until recently that she started to speak in more than just a string of loosely tied together words. Then there is May, the middle daughter, the one that actually has a chance. Unlike her sisters, May appears to be well adjusted despite her neglectful upbringing. May has straight As in every class and is starting her Senior Year, she doesn't freeze or talk to her 'imaginary friend' Webby, she is normal, although she isn't.

May isn't normal because she remembers things and sees things that nobody else can. May remembers how two years ago Hatchetfield turned into a musical, she remembers how the Black Friday of that very same year Hatchetfield was nuked. She remembers dying but nobody else can.

Starting the school year May plans on it being a normal one, one where she simply chooses to ignore all of the strange and unwelcome visions and memories.

But that is harder said then done when May Foster is the only person in Hatchetfield High who can see the ghost of Max Jägerman.
