Los Angeles, 2020

Aria and Carlos grabbed plates and started setting the table for dinner, grabbing an extra plate putting it in front of the empty spot their mother used to sit.

"There we go!" Their dad spoke, setting down a big bowl of microwaved spaghetti, "Okay, let's do this."

"Let's do it," Carlos agreed with the older man as they all held hands, the young brunette and his sister placing their hands in front of the empty seat.

"Your turn, Carlos," the dad said, as they all three closed their eyes and bowed their heads saying grace, "Thank you for our leftovers and the power of the mighty microwave. Amen."

"Amen," Aria agreed.

"So. . .Carlos tells me he found you in the studio," the dad said, putting a ladle full of spaghetti on their plates, "She was out there talking to herself."

"I was rehearsing for a play," Aria said trying not to sound crazy, "Hello, hello!"

"Oh, busted!" Carlos said as their aunts voice echoed through the house, Aria and her brother quickly grabbed the plate and silverware hiding it.

"Yeah, we're in here. Quick!" The dad said, his voice getting lower as he helped the two kids hide the unused dishes, "Huh! Spaghetti, again?"

"Yeah," the dad said as the two kids started eating their food, trying not to look suspicious.

"That's too bad, I brought you my pasteles and arroz con pollo," Their aunt said walking towards them at the dinner table, "Yum."

"Mm! Thanks, Tia. It smells great," Aria said with a smile through her mouthful of spaghetti, "You can have it tomorrow, I can't let you have leftovers every night. My sister would kill me, may she rest in peace."

"Oh. . .I see things here are going better?" The girl spoke rubbing her hand on the clean wooden surface of the table, "Actually. . .Aria has been cleaning out mom's studio."

"Hopefully, we can get the house on the market and some offers soon," Aria looked at her dad with spaghetti noodles hanging from her lips as he spoke, "Well, I like the sound of that. Moving from here is only gonna help you move on."
