"I don't like surprises." Cas said and abruptly shut down his laptop. Sam, who was seated on the other side of the table, gave him a dismissive look.
"Let me guess. Your little outbreak is about Dean, who is currently more absent than present." said Sam.
Castiel sighed loudly and sat back down in his chair.
"It's been going on for weeks now. I must wait, he said, but for how long? What kind of surprise is this, and why is it taking so long?"
"He gave neither Eileen nor I any information, either. I suppose all you can do is wait and trust him." Sam suggested.
"I trust in him. However, I prefer to spend my time with him than to wait for him."
Sam's eyes rolled back. He had believed that bringing them together would simplify everything, but he was mistaken. Sam, who frequently overheard the couple (mostly his older brother), knew exactly how the angel wished to spend his time with Dean. And no matter how hard he tried, he could never forget the moment he accidentally walked in on them.
"Cas, you're an angel. In a sense, you have existed in this place from the beginning of time. And you spent 12 years pinning for my brother. Waiting a few weeks won't harm you, in my opinion. It will be worthwhile, I'm positive."
"Just to make things clear, I never pinned for Dean. We have always had a strong bond, which we have only recently deepened."
"Whatever, Dean had pinned for you since you met. Just tell him if you can't wait for him to finish what he's currently working on. I have no doubt that he will stop." Sam proposed.
"I know, he asks me every day if it's okay that he's leaving. But I can't do this to him because he's so eager about it. Cas answered.
"Then you have to be patient. I hope you'll enjoy it. As Sam spoke, Cas sank into his chair and sighed loudly.
"I hope so. I have to put up with all this waiting just to hurt his feelings."
You'd got plenty of opportunities to practice lying to Dean, right?" Sam chuckled as he said. There was no harshness in his words. Both Winchester had already forgiven him.
"Things have changed. I made a self-promise that I would never deceive him again."
Sam had never seen Cas seem so serious as when he spoke.
"Great. In either case, know that I wouldn't be the only one after you, and rest assured that none of us would show any mercy, if you were to break my brother's heart."
Now it was Sam's turn to look as threatening as possible.
"Believe me, I don't mean any harm..."
Sam's unexpected burst of laughter cut off Cas' attempt to explain.
"I'm only kidding. And I am aware that you have never intended to hurt my brother. You two are meant to be together."
"So I suppose I have your approval. Cas gave him a hopeful glance.
"Yes, you have." Sam responded with a warm smile, and Cas returned it. Before Sam spoke once more, they were silent for a while.
"I must say thank you.
"What for?"
"For making Dean happy. From all the people in this world, he deserves it the most.""Dean, over here!"
From the other side of the parking lot, Donna shouted across to him while waving. With a broad grin on his face, Dean waved back. He was happy to be working with Donna on this. He simply couldn't solve this problem on his own.
Dean approached the Sheriff, who gave him a warm hug in return that he was more than happy to accept.
"Hey Dean, nice to see you. What gives me the honor to be your partner in crime? Please don't tell me it's just because of my truck."
Donna said with a mocked sad face.
"That's one of the reasons I asked you, I suppose."
Dean laughed as he informed her. She gave him a pouting expression.
"However, you're the only person I could trust with it, so that's more important."
Dean assured her. Donna's broad smile came back.
"I don't mean to be curious, but why not Sam? Or any other person?"
As they made their way to the entrance, she questioned.
"Sam's smart, but interior design is not one of specialties. Eileen is involved in some type of hidden club with Cas, so she might unintentionally mention something, but I can't take that risk. For a brief moment, I considered Jody, but she is more of a practical person. You basically have to help me because Cas liked the way your cabin was set up."
Dean responded.
"And I would be delighted to assist you."
Donna answered.
Dean looked up as they both stood in front of the door. He assured himself that he was ready for this. He was about to enter IKEA for the first time in his life with Donna.
