Being out of the dating game for so long, Soobin was quite bitter about romance. His first and only relationship ended at 16 — now he was 25. He was stubborn, reluctant to move on from his past.

——

"How was your day, sir?" the employee asked with a warm smile, scanning a carton of milk.

"I'm okay, and you?" Soobin answered sheepishly, intimidated by the attractive boy. He closely resembled his ex, from his feline eyes to his pouty lips.

"I'm feeling great, thanks for asking."

Soobin paused, hesitant to express his next thought. "Um, are you-"

The other's intrigued expression instantly made him regret opening his mouth.

"N-nevermind, sorry, I was just...just checking the total," Soobin stuttered, quickly coming up with an excuse.

He hastily swiped his card, hurrying off with the groceries before he could get a response.

God, that was awkward.

——

He couldn't sleep well that night, the incident heavy on his mind. A slightly embarrassing moment shouldn't have been bothering him that much.

"Yeonjun," he sighed, deep in thought as he lay in bed. that was the cashier's name, if he remembered correctly.

He felt oddly attached to him, even though he was a complete stranger.

The next day, he encountered Yeonjun at the store again.

His hands trembled in his pocket as the other handled his groceries, time running shorter with each item scanned.

He took a deep breath, his stomach in knots.

"D-do you want to go out for dinner tonight? I'll pay for it" Soobin offered, shakily handing the employee a slip of paper with his number on it. "I know it's a bit sudden but I overheard you saying you were tight on money."

Yeonjun was a bit surprised at the kind invitation. He hadn't really been eating quality food since the price of rent went up. "Oh, that's really nice of you! I get off at 7, we can go sometime after that."

Soobin couldn't help his lips from turning up into a smile. "Text me when you're done so we can pick a place."

——

"Thanks for giving me a ride, my legs would've fallen off if I had to use my bike," Yeonjun said, impressed by the car's expensive interior.

"No problem, baby." Soobin gently grabbed the other's hand, bringing it up to his lips for a gentle kiss. He felt much more confident, especially because he dressed up.

Yeonjun smiled, not taking the flirtatious gesture too seriously.

A silence fell as the younger focused his attention on the night road, collecting this thoughts. "Are you my boyfriend?"

The older laughed the question off. "Boyfriend? We just met!"

"Do you like men?"

"Yeah, guys and girls. I'm bisexual."

Soobin's smile faded, his mood suddenly sour. "You're confused, just like my ex. You guys never commit, you get your ass fucked for a night then run back to a woman when it's time to get married."
