His breath slightly ragged, Wei Wuxian sat down on the ground of the training field. He rested his sword on his side and turned toward the man standing by the balcony of one of the buildings, watching him.

"It's been a month, but your technique had progressed at a monstrous rate..." Master Hui praised with a disbelieving smirk on his face. He had a knowing face that if he kept improving, then this stupid disciple of his would surpass him in no time. He thought of this while considering that he had also gotten back to training regularly and never slacked off or spent his days idling.

"Talent?... That's not at the level of talent... He was born to wield a sword..." Another master thought with a sigh regretting that he hadn't taken Wei Wuxian's training seriously from the beginning due to his lack of sword.

"That being said," master Hui murmured, "I'm getting tired of this, go talk with your father." He grabbed his sword, "that old goat and his little puppies must be getting too ahead of themselves. But nothing will change between the both of you." He continued discontentedly.

"You must have hated it being forced to stand at his side as his son..." he headed back to the buildings, slight gust of wind concentrating below his feet everytime he took as step, "you sound confused yet you sound so sure.. brat, what do you think of second master Lan?"

Wei Wuxian stood silent at the question. He had this inkling that he had to find a chance to repay Lan Wangji in the future. He thought more calmly, a slight smile appearing on his face.

"He... Laoshi is... My most important person.."

The Lan Elder's stared at him for a while and patted his head, "then there's nothing wrong in staying by his side as his son. If he is important to you.. status doesn't matter."

"I'll take that advice, Master."

...

It was midnight, when Wei Wuxian decided to take a stroll outside. He sat on the roof watched the moon at it's peak. Today, Lan Wangji left for a night hunt, he wanted to see him off like he always does, knowing that he won't be back until morning. He decided to visit Jingshi after three months of successfully ignoring and avoiding his Laosh—he is your father now Wei Wuxian. You are now Lan Ying, Lan Wuxian.

To his surprise, Lan Wangji's Jingshi was not locked. So he let himself in and feel at home. Sandalwood, he noted, he really should stop being a stubborn mule and just ask forgiveness. He had gone to much in this whole ordeal.

Why?

He just noticed how he missed being at the Jingshi. There's nothing felt like his home than this.

He noticed the folded robe on top of the chambers bed. He reluctantly took it and smelled it. He noted that it must have been Lan Wangji's used robes. There was an emergency so maybe he must have forego all his other habits. He can't help it.

He took off his outer robe and lay down on the bed. For ten years he had always been doing this whenever Lan Wangji wasn't around. He used Lan Wangji's robe as blanket and sooth his agitation shamelessly. He always thought that if heaven's exist in earth, this was heaven for him.

He curled like a ball and went to sleep. He did quite feel comfortable with behaving in such inappropriate way, but since he was told not to waste his precious time, he just went ahead and bask himself with this illusory warmth.

Until finally, he fell asleep.

...

It was early morning when Wei Wuxian woke up. He felt very lazy after hearing the gust of wind and the heavy rains. He rolled on the bed and snuggled the pillow beside him. He buried his face on it, it was warm, very warm. He felt something wrapping around him and... He moved even closer to the comforting pillow. It was firm, hard and—"like what you're hugging?"
