TenTen sat beside Kakashi at the bar downtown, drinking sake as he frowned into his cup. He closed his eyes, sighing.
"I'm so embarrassed..."
She glanced over at him.
"Why?"
"That guy treated you terribly. I'm sorry."
She shrugged.
"He wasn't that bad; I've gotten it a lot worse. Hell, I feel bad for his wife. I got to leave after that dinner; she had to go home with him."
"Yeah, but I took you there. You did it as a favor to me. You had to sit there because of me. You aren't doing this again. Not with some shit-eating representative-"
"Yes, I am. I'm the Hokage's wife. If my presence is requested, then I'd like to be there. I want to be there to support my husband. Besides, you said he was low-ranking. It's probably just someone's brother-in-law."
He reached over and took her hand in his, squeezing it gently.
"Thank you."
"I never realized that I was interesting for a soon-to-be Kage's wife."
He chuckled.
"You're about the only Kage wife. Gaara's wife is cool, but she's not as neat as you. You're the coolest girl I know, and the most interesting. A wife working is unusual. A wife owning a weapons shop and being an expert in the subject is just fucking cool. Sorry he was such an ass to you."
She got up and scooted her barstool closer to his before sitting back down.
"The hazards of the title, I suppose. But, like I said, I feel worse for his wife. I get to go home with you; she has to go home with that asshole."
Kakashi snuck a beautiful little kiss from her, making her giggle.
"I hope you'll enjoy being a wife of a Kage, though. It's kind of tough."
"I like it so far. And, actually, I think I'll grow to love it. I already love being Kakashi Hatake's fiancé. Being a Kage's wife will be interesting. Maybe I'll even be able to liberate a few wives as well."
"Doubtful, but good luck."
She knocked back the rest of her sake and the bartender poured her another one. Kakashi watched her for a while, finally speaking again softly.
"I hope he isn't right."
She looked surprised.
"About what?"
"About you leaving. I never want you to leave."
She entwined her arm around his.
"Never, Daddy."
He blushed.
"I don't deserve to be called 'Daddy' tonight. I sat back and let you handle that man yourself-"
"You let it play out. I had it handled. I don't need you to defend my honor. But, I mean, you did anyway when you threw him backwards by the neck."
She wouldn't let him feel badly about himself. Her cheek was against his shoulder as she leaned against him, drinking her sake. She was faithful and steadfast. He had two faithful partners, and it was more than he could've dreamed of having years ago.
"I love you, TenChan."
"I love you too, Kakashi-kun. You're a great Hokage, and a great partner."
He wiped his eyes as he drank his sake. A woman sat down a few seats away at the bar, ordering a sake and a beer. TenTen only noticed her because she had turned to kiss Kakashi's forehead. It was the Representative's wife. She was looking into her sake for a moment before she took it and downed it entirely, putting her head down on the bar in her arms. TenTen motioned toward her quietly, making him look over. They shared a look before TenTen got up.
