Life is incredibly dull.

That was Hikaru's viewpoint on the matter. Waking up everyday, consume his daily sustenance, and then go off to attend his education or perform side jobs to scrap some money to get by. Living in a hostel with a couple of people wasn't the most comfortable spot to be in, but for him-- who had never known what comfort was like -- it was more than he could ask for. Just being away from everything that plagued his existence felt like the smallest bit of relief.

Though,

Still. Life remained incredibly dull. As his blue eyes stare at the dirty ceiling above him in his own small private quarters, he contemplated the reason for his stubbornness to continue living despite knowing just how much of a mess his life was. He had no parents to rely on as they had done nothing but pour their frustrations on him. He had no friends to gain support from as he couldn't find any interest in forming actual bonds, perhaps the reason could stem from the environment in which he was raised. He grew only to care for himself. Having so space in his heart to concern himself with others.

How pathetic it is to live like this at the age of 18, he mused darkly.

.........

" Hey, Kamiki. You're finally up." An older looking man greeted the boy as he was just about ready to leave the hostel, supposedly going off to college like usual.

Hikaru acknowledged with a nod, but took note of the awkward silence that build up between them as the man simply gave him a stern look, before eventually revealing a sheet of paper. Immediately, the boy's face scrunches in annoyance.

" Don't make that face on me now, kid. You're overdue by 2 months--"

" I know, I know, but give me another month. A few weeks, maybe? Just enough so I can pay for both--"

" Stop. I don't intend to hear any excuses." The man sighs, " Look, I don't wanna kick you out either. You're still a kid. And in my eyes, it's just cruel to do so but-- if my mother finds out that I've let a client overstay his welcome without paying his rent. Then that'd get me in major trouble." he scoffs upon mentioning his mother. " She's already bugged me about you for the last two months...and I've done my best to extend your promise....but this is it for me. You have this week to pay up."

Hikaru sighs in resignation before nodding and accepting the paper. The man flashes a somber look but returned to his previous expression quickly, he pats the boy encouragingly on his shoulder. " You're smart. I'm sure you can figure something out." Though his words fell on deaf ears for Hikaru, as he felt nothing but frustration from all this.

He couldn't pay much of the rent as he had just deposited most of his money towards his education. And his side job isn't picking up any traction as misfortune seemed to follow his every step. Being a tutor was difficult when the girls he was forced to teach end up trying to flirt with him and insinuate a relationship beyond work-related reasons, to which he denies and then the lass would rant off to her mother about some accusations he couldn't bother to listen to. Eventually leading him getting kicked out without getting paid.
