The next morning, approximately 10 am. I was making my way towards King's Cross Station. Dressed in long dark skirt, some plain shirt and a worn knitted sweater on top, pulling my leather trunk behind me. The sky was clouded yet again, making everything seem more dark and grim than it actually was.
Well now just gotta find the platform.
Glancing down at my train ticket, I slowly paced near and in between the platforms 9 and 10. What the- how is there supposed to be platform 9 3/4?!
The clock was ticking and soon about to hit 10:55. Slight panic came over me. I knew the muggles won't know what I am asking about, and I did not see anyone whom I knew. I felt my heart pounding little quicker and my lungs struggling to function normally, making me run bit short on breath, as I was fidgeting and pacing along the platforms'stone ground.
The feeling of helplessness washed over me, but for just a short second. God, I am so useless...I can't even find one damn platform, how did I ever defeat all those enemies-
OUCH!
When I was just about to lean my back against the brick wall that was in between the platforms, I felt myself falling down towards the ground. In less than a second my back and elbows hit the hard ground with a heavy thud. My elbows were left slightly bruised and bit of dust stuck itself onto my sweater.
Agh, what happened? Did I fall through the wall or something?
As I dusted off my hands and sat up, my eyes saw the brand new view. It was just then when it hit me that the station for Hogwarts Express was here, through the wall between platforms 9 and 10. I admired the way it looked for a moment. That was until I spotted the clock hit 10:59.
Shit, I will miss it!
I jumped up from the ground quick as a lightning, and pulling my trunk behind me I got on the train. Finally.
While trying to find an empty seat, I was met with glances from the other students, who were already sat in their seats. Their judging eyes piercing through me like knives. Not a new experience for me, but it still made me as uncomfortable as ever. Ugh, why do they always have to stare so much, like i am some shining trophy or what. Can't I get a bit of peace from this and be perceived as a normal person for once?
'Hey' 'Hey Ruth' was all most of them ever said, other than that they were silent or whispered to their so called friends, gossiping and judging. There were certain groups of individuals that, as I assumed and heard, hated me for getting so much attention from everybody. I never chose to be the center of attention, but whatever. Some people don't get that stuff. But yeah, there were always some envious glares and ill whispers. I usually ignored it, it wasn't something to concern me.
I tried to walk fast and find an empty seat on the train already, and try to disappear from all the eyes on me. I met some of my classmates in the process, so I thought it would be appropriate to make a short small talk (even though I hated small talk).
Natty and Poppy stood up from her seats immediately when they spotted me, with smiles on their faces, which was quite a surprise for me. A slight smile formed itself on my face as my gaze was on the two. All of a sudden, I saw them both rushing closer to me. My eyes widened for a second. They both wrapped their arms around me, pulling me into a hug (I did not hug people much, only very close friends).
"Ruth!"
"Merlin, we missed you."
My small smile still present, I spoke "Yeah, missed you both too." In a short moment they let go of me.
I gave them the simple overused question people would ask after holidays, since I did not plan on having some long dull conversation at the moment, but I felt the need to ask. "How were the holidays?"
