Chapter 4

The next morning I was woken up by faint birds' chirping from outside the half-opened window, while the sky showed scarcely any rays of sunlight. Still too early for most to wake up.

Managing to slowly sit up on the bed, I stretched out my arms and my back, yawning once or twice. My eyes were still very much blinded with sleep and my vision a tad blurry. My hair was a mess, as if some of Garreth's potions blew up in my face. But that was just how it usually looked in the morning.

My eyes squinted around the room, seeing my roommates still asleep. I quietly got up from the bed and walked over to my closet to put on my dark grey, mixed with deep blue, and faint silver coloured (according to my rightful house colours) school uniform for the day. Taking my hairbrush, I fixed my long dark hair a bit, so I wouldn't look like a Puffskein, and then as usual I quickly braided it into a single loose braid, with several strands of my bangs falling out.

My shoes made dull clicking sounds as I pootled up the rustic antique-looking stairs towards the Ravenclaw common room. There was no one around yet, the common room was all only for myself.

The tall bookshelves that reached towards nearly the very top, packed with all kinds of books. The walls decored elegantly with banners hanging up from the ceiling, coloured with hues of prussian blue, reminding of a sky on a starry night, as if to resemble one of Van Gogh's paintings.

I stood beside one of the big windows, which viewed the Black lake and beyond, the sun slowly rising up into the sky. Watching this sight for a moment, my ears picked up set of footsteps coming into the room. And that's my cue to leave. I don't wanna talk to people now. Well, I rarely did like it, but right in that moment I was not in the mood at all.

The time went quite fast, it was then past 7 am.

The breakfast time was it. So, due to that I headed to the Great Hall for breakfast.

The delicious smell of fresh pastries filled the whole space of the room. There was not yet too many people, which was a positive thing. Originally, I was walking towards the Ravenclaw table, however that was when I heard a small shout of a sweet soft female voice. I turned to face it and was met with a familiar face. Poppy was sitting by the Hufflepuff table and waving at me to come over.

I did not usually eat with someone at breakfast, not since last year anyway. However, I could never refuse Poppy. So, I came over to her and sat down next to her at the Hufflepuff table.

As we ate our breakfast, we were given our schedules. My eyes studied the paper in my hands, reading the neat formal writing. Poppy sitting next to me studied hers as well.

"It seems we are going to be together in Charms and Transfiguration only," I stated.

"Yes. We- Wait. Did you not want to take Care of Magical Creatures as well? As far as I remember you wanted to study beasts like I did," Poppy asked.

"Well yeah," I fiddled with my hands a bit, "but then...I don't know, I felt like it would be too many classes for me then. I have Charms, DADA, Transfiguration and Potions. I thought that if I took more, it would become unbearable. I don't have that much time since I have responsibilities beside my schoolwork."

Poppy showed a face of understanding but slight disappointment. "I know. But don't you think that you should now focus on yourself and your studies? I mean, you should take a break from saving the world here and there," she added with a chuckle.

I let out a small chuckle, because I knew Poppy meant well, but again, I did not enjoy mentions of my achievements all that much, the labels like 'saviour of Hogwarts' and such. "Right. anyway, it's getting close to 8 am, we should go prepare for our first class."
