The day had finally come when the mission would take place. The air was thick in anticipation and nerves intertwined as one.The entirety of TF141 stood outside together one final time, it was Price's final attempt at summarizing what they each needed to do and how this would play out.
Ghost was standing next to you, listening intently but saying nothing. There was no confusion or anxiety on his face. Even though he had remained silent, it was like he had already taken in the information and planned his course of actions.
He was in fight mode, no longer relaxing his shoulders and smiling.
"Alright, get ready to move out," came a gruff voice from behind you.
As you turned your head to look at Gaz, you saw Ghost's arms were already crossed over his chest. He was staring forward, his mind a step ahead of everyone else.
Price got down off of the top of the truck at a signal from Gaz, and the rest of the group began forming up.
Ghost still stood beside you as he heard Price give the last of his instructions before they moved out.
The moment the group began to move, Ghost's whole demeanour changed. The air around him was tense and there was an air of vigilance. His eyes scanned the environment as he moved with the group, a predator on the lookout for prey.
The tension was thick and almost palpable around Ghost.
You almost felt the stress and danger of the mission as you and the entire Task Force moved out and slowly made its way to the objective. The air was still and cold, so Ghost remained close to you like before. He always had you within his sight, even when you would look behind you.
As the Task Force approached the area, things remained relatively quiet. There were a couple guards here and there, but they seemed relaxed and unaware of the presence of the Task Force.
Ghost scanned the area, keeping his eyes peeled for anything that indicated danger.
"What is it, Lt?" Soap asked in a hushed tone. He looked along the tree line through his scope.
Ghost kept his eyes locked on the area, watching it carefully. His face remained blank, his expression unchanging.
As he kept staring at the trees, he noticed that there was something that was off. It was a spot far over in the trees beyond the guards. It was subtle, but Ghost caught it and his mind had already registered the threat.
Ghost quickly glanced back at Soap. "There, left side," He spoke softly and pointed out the spot before returning his focus back to the potential threat.
Price called for you and Roach to take it out, and you two did exactly that.
The moment that Price called the order, you and Roach moved. You crouched low and kept perfectly still. Roach was doing the same.
"On my count." You whisper to him. He nodded in return, waiting.
You could feel the tension in the air, and you could practically see the tension coming from Ghost. The entire Task Force was at full alert as the guards slowly approached the edge of the trees in front of them.
"Now."
With a brief moment of hesitation, you and Roach opened fire. The sudden explosion of gunshots erupted across the forest in an instant.
In front of the guards, the two of you opened up a storm of gunfire. The guards dropped like flies. There were a couple of shouts, but your bullets had already put down the last of the guards.
