Still Alive.

We were out..actually out! On a real date. You'd think after all these years I'd be calm about this, but it's been so long- and especially today with what's going to happen, well hopefully happen.

I look over at her and smile, I just stare for a moment admiring the beautiful woman In front of me. My beautiful girlfriend.  "You alright there, just gonna stare at me all night?" She jokes smiling back at me. "Sorry- it's just, you. You're everything Zig. Everything. I love you so much and I am so lucky you're mine." She looks away and feigns embarrassment covering her face with her hands. "Oh stop! You're too kind! Seriously though? I love you too Y/N more than you know, you mean the world to me."

I take her hand in mine and look down again getting lost in my thoughts, she doesn't seem to mind and now it's her turn to stare. "So, you going to tell me why we came out tonight? What you wanted to ask me..?" I meet her gaze and quickly look back down blushing a deep red "Right- so... about that.." and almost as if on cue our food arrives, I had almost forgotten where we were... shit- is this too public? What if this puts her off...

I wait until after we've eaten, I think she's noticed my nerves..or at least how quiet I've been. She breaks the tense silence we've been sat in. "Are you okay?" I dart my eyes up to meet hers. "Yes! Yeah- uh...Zig, I don't know how to ask you this...and it's probably really stupid anyway." Her gaze softens and she smiles gently, I think she knows.. "Zig...Ziggy. Berman...Would you-? Will you..marry me?"

Her whole face lights up, thank god. "Of course. Oh fuck- of course I will! I love you- so much." I offer a bright smile and take the ring I had hidden and I carefully slip it onto her finger. "Thank you Zig, for everything.. I love you so much, now forever and always."
