The Hopper siblings were chilling on the sofa watching TV
"Hey, what happened with bruce earlier?"
"I think you know."
"Oh god, how bad?"
"His wrists started bleeding real good."
"How could you do that!" Vance could hear the sadness in her voice, which made him upset. He doesn't like to disappoint yet another family member
"I mean, it's what his kind deserves."
"His kind, are you fucking kidding me, he's a human being just like you and me!"
"Belle be quite, don't wake up mum."
"You're a monster." Is the last thing he heard from his sister before she stormed into their room
Shit
Vance decided that he would go on a walk to clear his mind
It might be late and dark but vance does it all the time so he would be fine right?
He exits the house and walks mindlessly for a good half an hour
The same word repeats in his head
"Monster"
How could his own sister call him that
He wasn't a monster
He just did what he thought was right
His thinking gets interrupted by hearing loud, desperate screams
"HELP, SOMEONE HELP ME!!" It was coming from the alley way
Vance was about to turn around but decided against it and ran towards the screaming
When he gets there, he sees a group of boys kicking and punching someone
Vance then gets an actual look of who was being jumped
It was bruce
Oh, shit
If he helps him, maybe his sister will forgive him
Without thinking, he grabs one of the guys and throws him on the floor
The rest of the group then pays attention to the taller boy
After getting there asses beat, they ran
"Vance?!" Bruces eyes widened at the sight
"Oh hi." He puts out his hand for bruce to take, but bruce helps himself up instead
They stare into eachothers eyes before bruce makes a run for it
Vance just watches him run
He doesn't do anything to stop it
Why should he
He doesn't like bruce, so why would he run after him
*the next day*
Bruce spent all night thinking about vance
He had saved him
Why?
He thought he didn't like him
He walked to the Hopper house, waiting for Belle
"You ready?" Belle comes out with a piece of toast in her mouth
"Yeah, but don't we have to wait for vance, your mum sa-"
"I don't care what my mum said, I ain't walking with someone who did that to you." She says in between bites
