' he had an ego, and a temper, and a wandering eye. he said he's six foot two, and i'm like... dude, nice try. '

PRESENT DAY

JUNE 28, 2017
los angeles, california

it had only been a little over a week since harry and josephine had began to pretend to date, but it was already creating a major stir.

they happened to get along quite well, so they'd hung out nearly every day the past week, which definitely didn't help with the press.

although, for the past week, something had been nagging her.

she felt incredibly bad for springing the fake-dating on him without knowing him beforehand. what if he liked someone? and she was holding him back?

he seemed to notice as she was making cookies that night.

she was on one end of the island, and he was on the other. he leaned against it, his forearms resting on the countertop. he stared at her for a moment, as if studying her, before suddenly saying, "something's bothering you." as he pushed himself up.

she glanced up at him as she rolled the dough into balls, "what?"

something was bothering her.

she wasn't going to feed his ego and say he was right, though.

"something's bothering you. i can tell," he shrugged.

she laughed, "nothing is bothering me—"

she was cut off by her phone ringing, she glanced at it before realizing it was her mom.

"can you answer that and put it on speaker?"

harry nodded before doing as she asked.

"josephine!" her mother's voice rang out.

"coucou, maman. comment vas-tu? est-ce que tout va bien?"

"oui, oui. je vais bien, tout va bien. j'appelle juste pour vérifier. j'ai lu que tu as un nouveau petit ami. est-ce vrai?"

she laughed, glancing at harry, "oui, j'ai un petit ami. il est en fait ici en ce moment. dis bonjour, maman."

"hello... quel est son prénom?"

"harry, maman. il s'appelle harry."

"hello, harry!" her mother greeted.

"hello!—" he quickly glanced to jo, not yet knowing her mother's name.

cara, she mouthed.

"cara."

"now, i hear you're dating my daughter, is that right?"

"maman! pas d'interrogation!"

"il era bien!" her mom laughed.
