josephine and harry had been talking in the kitchen for a while, now. mostly just getting to know each other, but every now and then one of them would ask a question relating to the deal they'd struck up. really, it wasn't a deal, because harry didn't get anything out of it.
"i just feel bad!"
"it's fine, i want to help-"
"i can.. oh, i can pay you!"
he gave her a look. it was the polite way of saying he had more money than she could ever think of paying him.
"yeah, maybe not. uh..."
"josephine. you do not need to repay me."
she sighed, "i feel bad!"
"so you've mentioned."
"can i-"
"no."
"or i could-"
"josephine. you. do. not. need. to. repay. me," he told her gently.
she sighed, "there has to be some kind of catch to that!"
"that's... an extremely concerning sentence," he furrowed his brows.
"like... you want my firstborn child or something-"
"how did we get here?"
"or you want-"
"nothing. i want nothing. i do not need you to repay me," he told her with a laugh.
"seriously? you seriously don't want anything? you aren't saying that now but gonna change your mind later and yell at me for it?"
"you do realize how unhealthy that sounds?"
"yeah, i'm realizing that now," she nodded her head.
it was silent for a moment.
"i could-"
"no."
she groaned.
