Jenny
"It's just like I imagined flying to be like." Calls Leon over to Rhoald. He had given up talking to Edmon or me pretty quickly after one too many short replies and the odd falter in our rhythm. I smile at his enthusiasm but otherwise stay quiet as I concentrate on pushing and pulling my threads of gold from my chest. The trees are flying by and soon the sun is setting and it is getting much more difficult to navigate the trees. We are sure to give every village and town a wide birth putting many miles onto our journey as we pick an uninhabited route through the forest. As the last of the sun disappears I attempt to enhance my vision allowing myself to see a light glow in the distance as more and more lamps are lit. Balista.
"Edmon?"
"We should stop, we would get to the city gates before day break if we continue on foot. It's getting dangerous to carry on with this. There's not enough light to go by." Edmon breathes.
"I was about to say that. Though we could also get a little bit closer first." I reply as we both come to a halt for a quick breather.
"How, we can't see." He frowns.
"We can use our Magery to enhance our eyesight. It doesn't allow us to fully see in the dark but it can help us to see a little clearer, making our eyes more sensitive to the moon and stars. Use your magic and channel it through your eyes, it should allow them to pick up their small amount of light. He doesn't question me, instead I see him concentrate as he attempts what I just described to him.
"Alright Artt, what else are you hiding from me?" He smiles at me with newfound eyes.
"Oh, more than you could ever imagine." I half joke. Leon gives me a small reassuring squeeze.
"I'm glad you know." I add to him quietly so my voice doesn't carry to the other two.
"I know you are. Now can we get going? As much as I'm enjoying the ride it would be nice to get back first." He retorts.
"If we get to the end of the forest we should be able to cover the rest of the ground at a relatively fast walking pace." I smile and shoot out my gold pulling us forward and onwards.
I feel Edmon with Rhoald behind me, I guess Edmon is just following my movements, not quite trusting himself to be totally independent. Skimming over the tips of the trees I revel in the feeling of the wind in my hair knowing this will be one of the few times I will get to do this in the next year. Possibly not for a long time after that! I wrap my tether around a tree on the edge of the forest and pull myself towards in sending myself past it. Gently I allow a fast but controlled descent stopping the fall by pushing up on a thread for the last couple of metres causing me to land with all the grace I can muster. As soon as my feet have hit the solid ground Leon jumps off my back keen to not burden me for a second more than he has to.
"That was so much fun!" He enthrals.
"Yeah but you know you can't tell anyone else. We need to keep our powers a secret. You know how feared Magery is in Dragos, we hope Edmon will be able to change that perspective when he takes the throne."
"Yeah, yeah Ali, I know the drill. Don't spill, don't talk about it, all will be revealed at some point." He remarks rolling his eyes at me earning a well-timed shove. I catch him before he hits the floor, reminding him of my strength for such a small person.
