Aziraphale made it back to the stairway to see that the water had risen much higher than before. It was so deep that he couldn't reach the floor. And the hallway had become dim from the lights fading away. The room that Crowley was in wasn't as flooded but Aziraphale had to get from where he was to there safely. He put the axe on the framing of the open gate and took his coat off as it would weigh him down. He took the axe back and got into the freezing cold water.
Using the pipes, he returned to the room Crowley was still trapped in. When he could reach the ground, he continued to walk the rest of the way. The water in the room was now up to his waist while Crowley stood on the desk which had drifted over to him. Aziraphale showed him the axe, asking if that would work. Crowley looked at it in shock but was willing to find out if it would work. Crowley spread his hands out as far as he could so that Aziraphale could break the chain.
But, before he could swing, Crowley told him to try a few practice swings first. He pointed to a cupboard door to try it on. Aziraphale swung at the door, making a hole in it. Crowley told him to try hitting the same spot again but he was way off. As there wasn't enough time to keep trying, Crowley just told him to come and help him. He gave him some last-minute advice, telling him that he trusted him. Crowley opened his hands and looked away, waiting for Aziraphale to do something.
He closed his eyes before hitting the cuffs hard, hearing metal clang when he did. But the cuffs were broken. Both were happy that it worked and hugged each other in celebration. Now they needed to leave. When Crowley got into the water, he cursed at the feeling of the ice-cold water. Aziraphale led him out only to see that the way he had come in was flooded. So, they decided to find another way out.
As the lifeboats left the sinking ship, everyone aboard them saw how dire the situation had become. Molly was shocked to see what was becoming of the magnificent ship. The Meteron was unable to react. Fireworks continued to go off but the ocean was completely empty. On deck, crewmembers and staff were loading all the women and children into the boats.
Many women were crying, scared to leave their husbands, or didn't want to let them go. But they had to be carried into the boats. Gabriel was still waiting to get into a boat but the officers stayed true to their orders. Gabriel spotted Sandalphon who had been searching for Aziraphale on the other side of the ship. He told Gabriel that he was nowhere to be found. Gabriel didn't care about him anymore and just wanted to get into a lifeboat.
Sandalphon told him that there was an officer on the other side of the ship letting people on. So that's where they were going to go. But Gabriel needed some insurance so he went back to his cabin for something. Meanwhile, below deck, Crowley was kicking down a locked door. They had found a way out of the flooding deck but this one door was still in the way. He managed to kick it down, catching the eye of a staff member who wasn't happy about what Crowley had done.
He followed the couple, saying that Crowley would have to pay for damages as it was White Starline property. Both just turned to him, yelling at him to shut up. He did in complete shock while the two made their way through the crowd of people. Back up on deck, they were still loading passengers into the boats. A First Class woman tried to have the officer hold the boat for her as she needed to get something from her room.
But the officer picked her up and put her in the boat, saying that she was the last. Mr. Andrews walked up to that officer, asking why he was only launching the boats half-full. The officer dismissed the question until Mr. Andrews pointed to one of the boats that were leaving. He told the officer that there were about twenty-five in the boat when there was room for sixty-five. He even said that he saw a boat leave with only twelve people in it.
The officer argued that they weren't sure of the weight, concerned that the boat would buckle with the amount of weight in them. Mr. Andrews called his excuse rubbish, saying how the boats were tested in Belfast with the weight of seventy men inside and ordered the officer to fill the boats properly. Looking back at one of the boats leaving, he started to agree with Mr. Andrews' argument and asked for more women and children.
Below decks, Hastur yelled at the staff of the other side that they couldn't keep them locked up like animals and told them that the ship was sinking. One of the staff yelled for the women to come forward and unlock the gates. But all hell ensued when they did. As they were letting the women out, all the men followed suit.
A fight ensued between the officers and the passengers but they got them all contained again. The passengers even started to shake at the gates, begging to be let out. Hastur yelled again about there being women and children down there with them and to open the gate so they would have a chance. But the staff did nothing. Moxxie left the gates, walking back downstairs where Crowley and Aziraphale had just arrived.
"Crowley!" Hastur said seeing him
"Hastur!" Crowley said seeing him, "Can we get out?"
"It's hopeless that way!"
"Whatever we do, we've got to do it fast!"
Ligur pushed through the crowd, seeing his friend. The two embraced when they saw each other again.
"The boats are all gone!" Lihur told Crowley
"The whole place is flooding," Crowley told him
"There is niente this way."
"All right. Let's go this way, all right? Come on."
All four left to find another way out.
