Winding corridors filled with anxious scouts scrubbing, wiping and scrambling frantically to clean before he arrived. This was, effectively, the new recruits' first chance to give a good impression to their superiors, and their orders from Levi were clear: make headquarters spotless. One scout, Mathis, dropped a vase. All the soldiers turned their heads, hissing and rushing over to fix the damage.

"You are so dense!"

"How fucking stupid can you be?"

"You're going to get us killed!"

Four scouts surrounded him, assembling a dust pan, a broom and a metal can to dispose of the poor vase's remains. Mathis defended himself fruitlessly, only receiving groans and dirty looks in response. Headquarters was incredibly tense and restless, all the scouts pouring their pain and adrenaline into their assignments. The infirmary sat just a few rooms away, reeking of blood, disinfectant and bile, housing all of their friends. The success at Trost was a huge success for humanity, but it was vital that the recruits didn't get too comfortable. Humanity was still dwindling in numbers, and one small victory in Trost wouldn't change that.

"Floors next. I refuse to live in squalor," a commanding voice echoed down the hall next to Mathis and the other scouts.

"Hurry the fuck up!" Sofie, who was holding the metal can, whispered to Emilie and Franz, who were in charge of the dustpan and broom.

"Windows - how are we supposed to view our surroundings when they appear to be covered in filth?" Levi's voice drew closer, but the group of stupid recruits finally got rid of the broken glass and dust on the floor. He turned the corner, peering in the room they had just saved from disaster, surveying their work. Everything else appeared to be untouched, no items strewn about, floors sparkling, windows clear, even the fireplace had been properly cleaned. Quite a few of them all huddled in the corner, but they appeared unassuming enough.

"Dust the shelves," He said plainly, and once he was out of sight, they turned to each other and rejoiced.

Levi had a splitting headache which only contributed to his scowl as he made for Erwin's quarters. If Erwin believed Eren to be useful, there must have been merit to that fact. However, having the government breathing down their necks did not comfort Levi in the slightest. His leather boots clicked softly against the wooden floors, his pace quickening once he was out of sight from the new recruits.

Erwin sat, steel faced, in front of his mahogany desk. The curtains were swept to the sides of the large windows framing the room, allowing light to pour in.

"Giving them hell?" Erwin smiled softly at Levi, to which he rolled his eyes.

"What's our next move with Eren?" Levi made no moves to sit.

"It appears that Eren is the least of our problems," Erwin turned his head to the document on his desk, gesturing for Levi to come look it over. "There have been Titan appearances in The Underground."

"As if that hellhole couldn't get worse," Levi sneered, scanning the page. It was a letter sent to Erwin from the King, ordering the Scouts to station themselves in The Underground and investigate all Titan appearances.

"We are to be stationed in a complex on the outskirts of The Underground, so as to not raise any concern. People don't take very kindly to us down there, do they?" He gave Levi a knowing look. Levi scoffed.

"Did they send any information, or just this worthless paper?" Levi crossed his arms.

"Not much - there have been three appearances, and no one can identify the cause. It's our assignment to investigate. Well, rather, it is your assignment."
