Clyde waited patiently for them to answer.
He expected them to lie and deny everything.
But..
"Yes, I did give him that black eye."
Clyde looked completely calm, but inside he was shocked.
But, Clyde's thoughts were interrupted when the judge called for an order.
"Order, order!"
"Ms. Smiths? May I ask why you gave him that black eye?"
Ashley rolled her eyes.
"Isn't it obvious? Clyde is a stupid kid. He obviously doesn't deserve respect from me."
The courtroom was completely silent.
Then, everybody started whispering.
"Clyde doesn't deserve his mother and father. Well, he already lost his mother."
Clyde just looked at Ashley, and started to quietly giggle.
Tolkien raised an eyebrow at him.
Clyde smiled at him, and then Tolkien knew what was going on.
The judge noticed Clyde smiling and asked a question.
"Clyde, may I ask why you are smiling?"
Clyde looked at the judge, still smiling.
"It's simple, your honor."
The judge raised an eyebrow.
"Ms. Smiths is jealous of my father's love for me."
The entire courtroom was silent, except Ashley who just scoffed.
"Ugh! Totally not true! I just hate you because you were born!"
Clyde rolled his eyes, waiting for the judge to give permission for him to speak.
At least he had some respect for the courtroom.
The judge looked shocked.
"Is this really true?"
Clyde just nodded.
The judge was calming himself down when Clyde felt a hand hold his.
It was Tolkien's.
Clyde smiled at him and blushed a bit, holding his back.
He felt safe.
No, they felt safe.
Once the judge finally gathered himself together, he looked serious.
"Well, it's quite clear that Ms. Smiths and Mr. Donovan have been abusing Clyde Donovan."
"So.."
Clyde felt a bit worried just before he felt Tolkien's hand squeeze his gently.
"I declare Ashley Smiths and Roger Donovan guilty of physically abusing, mentally abusing, and sexually abusing Clyde Donovan."
"Your court trials will be held between the next 4-7 days. For now, you shall rest in jail."
The judge then banged his gavel on the table.
"Court case finished."
Everyone started to clap, a warm smile appearing on Clyde, Tolkien, and Steve's face.
It was finished.
Ashley and Roger would finally be punished for their actions.
Clyde was free.
No, they were free.
