The classroom is quiet, with no work to do and the sub reading a book, Rafael opens Minecraft on her school computer. She motions for Nick to join her. Just as they both load up into a world, another student screams, "Oh my god!"
This grabs the attention of everyone in the room. As everyone looks at the student, she stands up and looks out the window. Quickly everyone else wants to see what the commotion is about. With everyone's faces pressed against the glass, it was hard for Rafael and Nick to see what was happening from their seats. "What do you think it is this time?" Rafael whispers to Nick.
"The end of the world?" Nick replies. A snicker escapes Rafael's mouth as all the students duck under their desks. Nick and Rafael only realise the magnitude of the situation when the old sub hides under a table. They look at each other before the sub screams, "Meteor!"
Just as Rafael and Nick flip the table and hit the floor the shock wave hits. The glass shatters, papers fly around, both Rafael and Nick's computers smash into the wall. The blast causes the ceiling to fly off, lifting anyone that was holding onto the tables.
Once the wave passed, small pieces of rubble still hit the floor. "Look, it KO-ed the main school building," Rafael says as she stands up.
"Bro, we just graduated," Nick replies. "Ayyy!" Rafael yells excitedly, as they high five. Soon some of the other students begin standing up.
"Wanna go check it out?" Rafael asks, stretching.
"Sure," Nick replies.
As they make the way through the ruins of their school, it becomes more and more unrecognisable. They stand overlooking the creator.
"That thing looks wack..." Rafael mumbles as she gets closer to the meteorite.
"That asteroid looks hella smooth..." Nick adds, "and cube-y?"
As they approach, the asteroid seems to be made from some colour changing metalloid substance.
"If you touch it, I'll give you my WHOLE three chests of dirt," Nick smiles.
"Really! You know how much I need that," Rafael pouts, "Fine! But if my hand melts off, it's on you."
Rafael reaches out with her left hand, touching the cold smooth extra-terrestrial object. Rafael begins screaming. "What?!" Nick yells, a little shocked.
"Nothing," Rafael snickers. Nick's face goes blank, "Wow. Real mature."
This strange burning feeling encases the underneath of both of Rafael's arms. As she turns them over, to reveal 5 pixelated hearts under her left arm and 10 pixelated drumsticks on her right.
"Doesn't this kind of look like they're from Minecraft?" Rafael murmurs.
"Yeah, they do..." Nick trails off.
"Hey! Step away from there right now!" A demanding voice yells from behind Rafael and Nick. He looks like a mixture between special forces and a cop, he points a gun at Rafael and Nick. "Hands off!" He gestures towards Rafael.
Rafael sighs as she pulls her arm away, but for whatever reason it doesn't come. Rafael looks back and tugs harder. "Nick!" Rafael alerts. She looks back realising the problem and grabs onto Rafael to pull her away from the meteorite. The burning sensation crosses over to Nick, but she keeps pulling anyway.
"Nick!" Rafael yells again. Nick looks over Rafael's shoulder seeing pixels spreading up her arms. These pixels quickly begin to root out, spreading and covering both of their bodies.
"What the hell is happening?!" Nick yells. As... "adventurous" as she was, this was some next level stuff, even for her.
"See you on the other side!" Rafael screams as she disappears into the rock. Nick soon follows, seemingly leaving the Earth behind possibly for ever.
