Okay sorry. I keep getting off track. So we went to meet Jesy's mom and that didn't go well. Since no one else knew the way to her mother's home, Jesy was currently driving. It took us an hour after we got off the highway, and the house was in the middle of no where. And I mean, the closest neighbor was three and a half miles away in every direction. So,if things decided to go down hill (again), and her mother turned out to be some psycho serial killer, we were screwed. I know, I know. I'm just overreacting.
"Okay, you can do this, Jess." Jesy stood next to me on her mother's front doorstep, shaking out her shoulders like she was about to play in a football game. We parked the RV a little ways down the driveway, and Mikey and I walked Jesy to the door, for moral support. Jesy blew out one more breath before ringing the old, faded doorbell. There was a faint yell from inside.
"Just a minute!" A young voice called out. I looked at Jesy questioningly. She looked just as confused. The door opened up to a woman who looked like she was in her early to mid twenties.
"Can I help you?" She had an accent similar to Jesy's. And she even looked a little bit like Jesy... Maybe I'm just seeing things. She was dressed in a neat pencil skirt, with a light pink blouse, perfectly ironed and tucked into her black skirt.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Does Sarah Maddox not live here anymore?" Jesy seemed a little disappointed.
"Oh ummm... Yeah. May I ask who you are?" The girl questioned her.
"I'm Jesy Maddox. Is my mother home?" Jesy was getting angry.
"You... You're Jesy?" The girl looked at her sympathetically.
"Yeah, who the hell are you?" Jesy demanded.
"I'm Lily. Lily Maddox." The girl whispered.
"Ha. Ha ha. Ha ha ha. That's funny. What, are you one of my mom's hookups? But you said your last name was Maddox, so what? Did you guys get drunkenly married? Ooh lemme guess, you were high, too? Huh? Answer me!" Anger flooded through Jesy and the girl flinched at every word.
"Please, come in." Lily moved to the side, opening the door a little wider for us. Jesy stormed in, heading straight to what I assumed was the living room.
"Lil? Who was at the door, dear?" A voice shouted from upstairs.
"You better come down here!" Lily shouted back up, uneasy.
"Just, who is it?" The voice yelled again.
"Come down here and find out!" Lily snapped.
"Fine, fine!" There was a thump an a creak from upstairs, then two feet made their way down the stairs. Mikey was the first to see her. He was sitting to my left, Jesy to my right. Lily quickly stood, then motioned for us to stand. Mikey and I did, but Jest stood her ground and stayed seated. Lily growled, but didn't take any actions against her. I looked down to Jesy, you could see the anger mixed with a little fear in her eyes. I grabbed and squeezed her hand in my right, then did the same to Mikey in my left. When I turned back, there was a woman standing in front of us.
She looked horrible. A stained, brown shit, and dirty, ripped jeans, both hung very loose on her small, boney body. She had a tired face and there were large clumps of her hair missing. She looked almost homeless.
"Who are you?" she looked directly at Jesy.
"Hello. Mother." Jesy spat. the fear in her eyes was gone, they were completely emotionless now.
"J-J-Jessica?" her mother stuttered.
"Yeah." she said flatly.
"Wha-"
"Don't." Jesy held up her hand, stopping her mother.
"Let her finish." Lily snapped, taking a menacing step towards Jesy. Jesy's mother looked appreciatively at Lily.
"What are you doing here?" she asked quietly.
"Do you not want me here?" Jesy asked back.
"No it's not that, I just...thought you'd never come back..."
"I wouldn't have..." Jesy hissed. "... But my friends made me." She pointed to Mikey and I. I awkwardly waved to her mother, as did Mikey. She grimaced at his appearance and I scoffed at her. He was dressed in his usual attire, a dark pair of nicely ripped jeans and a (on the tighter side) white t shit with a black leather jacket over it. His black hair was still covering his eyes, and it swooped towards his the side of his face that his red lip ring was pierced to his lower lip. Jesy's mother turned towards me.
"Excuse me?" She raised an eyebrow.
"I saw that." I said.
"Pardon?" Oh, so she was going for the innocent act.
"That slight grimace on your face when you looked at Mikey." I squeezed his hand again, knowing that he didn't notice, but he took things like this personally. "I pay very careful attention to detail. Like the fact that you're starting to go grey very early, for a woman your age. Especially in your eyebrows." She quickly reached up and cover both her eyebrows.
"Leave her alone or get out of this house." Lily grabbed my upper arm. I noticed a small mole on her neck.
"Lily, you know that mole on your neck? You might want to get that checked. Skin cancer is very common now." She quickly retreated her hand to cover the small spot.
"Why are you here?" Lily snapped again.
"To see her crackhead mother." Mikey whispered in my ear. I laughed a little too loud, and when Jesy looked at us questioningly, I leaned down to relay the joke to her. She, too, laughed.
"Anyways, who the hell is she?" Jesy pointed to Lily.
"She's... She's your sister..." Jesy laughed.
"Yeah, right. And I'm the queen of England." Jesy crossed her legs and placed her hands perfectly on her knees.
"She's not lying." Lily said. Jesy looked at her shocked.
"And how old are you?" Jesy asked Lily.
"I'm twenty-six." Lily raised her chin. "And I'm the president of Pemberly Digital Media Company." She was clearly gloating.
"But that means your mother was how old...?" trying to connect the dots.
"Yeah, I heard teen pregnancy babies always turn out the best." Jesy growled and stood up off the couch to storm out of the room.

Hey you guys! So here's the next chapter, and from now on I think we're going update on a schedule, not by number of reads. I was thinking maybe once a week, maybe every other. The next update won't be for a while until we can write enough chapters to be able to update weekly or bi-weekly.
Keep reading you guys, the book is just getting good! And thanks for reading!
