Chapter 0: Prologue

"My heart is as open as the sky."

The skies of the goddess' kingdom were always blue. Those who inhabited the land were always happy and there were no shreds of disarray to be seen. The goddess' name was Aster, a merciful god who never dared to lay a hand on those under her guidance. She was gentle and loved by all those who knew her. Her heart was pure gold and always open to spread her everlasting love.

Aster walked along the ground of her grand palace, seeming to be thinking about an upcoming disaster. The doors to her quarters were opened and in came her advisor, Luneia, who seemed to be in a great state of panic. The goddess bent down to stand at eye level with her advisor to assess the problem at hand. With a shaky voice Luneia announced, "Lord Istaroth is here your diviness." This revelation made Aster's eyes widen, before she stood tall once again and left through the doors, her advisor on her tail. It was no secret that Aster and Istaroth did not have the best of relationships, as they were in fact the other's greatest rival.

She entered the meeting hall, to be greeted by exactly who she was expecting standing before her. The rival god had a wide smirk on his face, his eyes sharp as he watched Aster's movements as she stood before him. Despite being a thousand years older than Aster, Istaroth was slightly shorter than Aster, while she stood at around 20 feet tall, he was around 15 feet tall, so he had to quite literally look up to her. He cleared his throat to open his mouth. "Aster, my long time rival, I offer that you surrender your men from my kingdom and my men will not attack." he said blankly, seemingly serious about it. This proposition didn't stir the goddess and she quickly denied the offer, stating that if he knew better he wouldn't dare to lay a single hand on her people.

Her denial shocked Istaroth and he laughed sarcastically. "You assume that I will not attack your kingdom because you think I'd know better than to do so? That is hilarious!" he said, the humor in his voice clear. He stopped laughing, wiping a tear from his eye and sighing heavily. Aster's eyes narrowed at him, her arms crossed in disapproval of his behavior, her expression expressing her distaste for Istaroth's inability to take this meeting seriously. "Alright, that's enough for this meeting, Istaroth, you may leave now." She said, ushering him to leave. As the doors closed following his departure, the goddess let out a sigh of relief, exiting the meeting hall and taking a seat on her throne, rubbing her fingers against her temples. Luneia appeared at her side, her expression showcasing a huge amount of worry for the safety of the people, while Aster didn't seem to be too threatened by Istaroth's threat.

"He's threatened to attack on more than one occasion, I'm sure he won't cause any harm."Aster said, looking down at her companion with a genuine smile on her face. This made Luneia feel somewhat better, but didn't completely ease the fear of an impending attack. She, of course, didn't tell Aster this in order to avoid causing any more worry as she looked up to the goddess sitting next to her. It still scares her that she's relatively miniscule compared to Aster and that if she weren't careful, she could be stepped on, considering that she stands at around half of Aster's height, it becomes unnerving how little she appears next to her.
