At lunch the next day, I walked to our table with with Lori. As usual, she would not shut up.

"Oh my god, I can't believe it finally happened! To be honest, I never thought you would ever meet a guy like the one you've been looking for but hey, you proved me wrong!" About five minutes in, I tuned her out. Jason was already sitting at our table... with Travis. Surprise!

"Um, hey Jason." Lori said, obviously confused. Jason looked up with a smile on his face.

"Hey guys, you've met Travis, right?" I smiled at him.

"Hi Travis." He grinned back at me.

"Hey Trinity."

"I'm Lori by the way." She interjected. I rolled my eyes.

"Nice to meet you." Travis said courteously. We sat across from him and Jason.

"Jason, how'd you meet Travis?" I asked.

"You know how student council members take turns giving new kids tours? Well, yesterday it was Ava, today it's me." He explained.

"You're lucky," I said to Travis, "Sometimes, new kids get stuck with Ava for more than one day." He laughed.

"Yeah, she's a little..."

"Gorgeous, amazing, anything to that effect." Speak of the devil, and the devil shall appear, "So Travis, I see you got stuck with the loser as your second guide. You know, you could always request to have me full time." Ava said while pushing between Jason and Travis.

"That's ok." Travis said with a nervous laugh. He scooted a little bit away from her, but she was persistent. I guess she'd given up on Jason for now.

"Oh, well, ok. Are you going to the Welcome Back dance this Saturday?" She asked.

"Um, yeah." He flashed a look at me. I gave him an apologetic smile.

"Really? Maybe we can go together?" She asked, batting her eyelashes. I tried not to vomit.

"I'm sorry, I already have a date." He said with a sideways smile at me. I blushed, and Ava saw.

"Oh, well, ok then." With that warm goodbye, she stalked back to her table. Then the bell rang, lunch was over.

"Trinity, do you want to walk to Chemistry together?" Travis asked me. I nodded.

"Absolutely." Lori nudged Jason with excitement, but he didn't look up.

Travis and I walked slowly, I could tell he didn't really want to get to class where we'd have to shut up and listen for a while.

"Jason told me a lot about you." He said.

"Yeah, we've been friends for a while."

"I could tell." He said with a soft laugh that made me want to faint.

"Oh crap, we're here." I said as we neared the classroom.

"That's ok, we have Saturday." He said with a wink as we walked in. Right then and there, I knew I was falling deeper and deeper.

(Ghost parts coming up, I promise!)
