*Next Week*
Since Aufiero and I had sex, things have been different. We talk a lot more and he lets me in on things. He told me more things about these 'papers' which clearly don't exist but he's too stupid to realize it. I picked up the key to my mom's bedroom and unlocked it. I know that this paper or box is in her room. Her closet door was wide open. The box looked the same as I left it. Untouched. I pulled it down and sat it on the floor. The papers were old. Anyone could tell. They were extremely dusty.
I started to see more and more papers with mafia stuff on it. I smiled to myself. Bingo. I began to flip through but I didn't find anything with an address on it.
I put the box back where it belonged and locked her room door back. There has to be other stuff in the garage. "What are you doing?"North asked scaring me. "Looking for something. Don't mind me"
My mom's garage wasn't like any other garage. It was like a mini living room. Couch, tv, refrigerator / freezer. Dad liked to hide stuff in the garage. Only I knew his secret hiding place. He hid his important things in books. Books no one ever read because it was in a different language. Italian of course. I picked up the book and shook it until something fell out.
It was a paper indeed but it didn't have an address on it, just a name. A very familiar name.
Maso .
I left my mother's house in a weird state of mind. Maso couldn't have killed them. That's just not possible. And why would Maso be affiliated with Aufiero? Unless he's taking information from Aufiero back to Biagio. "That's some fucked up bullshit" I muttered to myself. Several cars were parked in Aufiero's driveway as I pulled into it. I sighed before getting out and knocking on his door.
Vitale opened it. He smiled at me. I smiled too. He was the only one who didn't give me a hard time. Aufiero sat surrounded by a group of men. They seemed to be discussing something important. He had a straight face. I stood by the door waiting on him to notice me which took a couple minutes for him to do. He cleared his throat as he walked towards me. "Let's talk outside"He said.
"What's up?" I shook my head.
"Nothing, just came to see you" He pursed his lips. "Now isn't a good time"
"What's going on?"
"Stuff. You need to leave, tigrotta, I don't need you getting hurt "
"I don't need you getting hurt either"
He chuckled and lightly kissed my nose. "Don't worry about me. I can handle myself" I sighed. "I think Maso had something to do with the death of your grandparents "
"And why would you think that?"
"Because I went back to my moms house and I found some papers. They didn't have an address on them but they had Maso's name on them and I think it meant something ""Your dad didn't even know Maso"
"Maybe he did"
He rolled his eyes and frowned. "Don't come here with that bullshit okay puttana. I know damn well he didn't have something to do with it. He's family. And I told you to stay out of it. Stop snooping around for shit you don't understand. Take your ass home now. You don't need to be involved in this"
"But Aufiero, I k-
"GO HOME NOELLE"He yelled.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. When I opened them, he was staring at me. His eyes screamed, "get the fuck out my face". He closed his eyes too and rubbed his face. "Go home. I'll come check on you later"
