Dr. Alyiah Mitchell had always been a woman of exceptional talent and dedication. Her life had been devoted to medicine, and her patients came to her with hope in their hearts. But even the most brilliant minds can find themselves ensnared by circumstances beyond their control.
One evening, as Alyiah was busy reviewing medical reports in her office, her parents, Samuel and Isabelle Mitchell, entered, their expressions stern and unyielding. It was a visit she had been dreading, for she knew her parents' ulterior motives all too well.
"Sit down, Alyiah," her father, Samuel, said in a commanding tone. Alyiah, despite her accomplishments, felt like a child once more, powerless in the presence of her parents.
Her mother, Isabelle, spoke with a coldness that sent shivers down Alyiah's spine. "We've discussed this matter at length, and we've come to a decision. It's time for you to fulfill your obligations to this family."
Alyiah knew exactly what they meant. It was about the paralyzed businessman, Ezran Reynolds, her parents knew she could treat him and saw an opportunity they couldn't resist. Alyiah had become a pawn in their game.
Her father, spoke sternly. "You have to marry Ezran Reynolds and treat him."
Her voice quivered as she protested, "But I cannot marry him, it's unethical and against my principles! I have no qualms in treating him, but I won't take advantage of his state."
Her father's voice grew even sterner, "This isn't about your principles, Alyiah. It's about our financial security, the future of this family."
Tears welled up in Alyiah's eyes as she realized the depth of her parents' manipulation. They threatened to expose her actions, to tarnish her reputation and medical career, if she didn't comply. It was a cruel ultimatum that left her with no choice but to agree to their demands.
As the weight of her parents' coercion pressed down on her, Alyiah's heart sank. She was trapped in a web of deceit and forced into a marriage she never wanted. And so, the darkness of obligation enveloped her, drowning her in a sea of despair and powerlessness.
