"Chaos Has Come Again"

part 3

"I don't see anything" says Derek as him, scott, stiles, Allison and Lydia are in the school library, looking at the markings on the girls arms
"Look again" persisted scott
"How is a bruise gonna help us find were Boyd and Erica are?"
"It's the same on both sides, exactly the same"
"It's nothing"
"Pareidolia. Seeing patterns that aren't there.....it's a subset of apophenia" says Lydia smartly
"They are trying to help" scott
"These two? This one who used me to resurrect my psychotic dead uncle, thanks for that (he gestures to Lydia and thanks her sarcastically and then gestures to Allison) and this one who shot about 30 arrows into my pack
"Okay alright now, come on. No one died. There may have been a little maiming, okay a little mangling, but no death. Okay that's what I call an important distinction." Says stiles
"My mother died" Allison
"Your family's little honour code killed your mother, not me" Derek retaliates
"The girl was looking for scott. I'm here to help him. Not you"
"You wanna help? Find something real" and just as he is about to turn away, both scott and Derek freeze and turn to the entrance of the library and see phoebe walk in and Derek asks "is that her?"
"Yeah" scott says as stiles, too looks at the girl, curious as to what she is, all while Allison and Lydia are confused
"Do you know?" Scott asks Derek trying to see if he knew what she was.
"I have an idea, I'll look into it" he says and turns around and walks out and as Scott follows to talk to him, nobody notices stiles stand up and walk to phoebe when she is browsing the Isles until they hear him talk
"Hi...phoebe right?"
She looks up innocently and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and looks at stiles
"Oh-oh! Your talking to me, right of course your talking to me I mean your standing right in front of me, and I'm rambling um yes I'm phoebe, Phoebe rodgers..your stiles right?"
"*Chuckles* yeah I am and don't worry I ramble a lot too, but I just wanted to see if your liking the new school, I'm sorry I didn't get much of a chance to say hey yesterday, you know with the bird thing and all"
She grimaces and says "oh don't remind me, hehe but yeah I'm liking school so far"
"Any of the teachers giving you trouble?"
"No no, ohhhh but I think I have a favourite"
"Aha oh yeah? Who?"
"Coach"
"....i-really, coach, the same dude who yells at everyone and has no filter"
"Yeah ahah I find him really funny and blunt...what about you, are you liking school?"
"Eh, school is school and I've got a bunch of problems that need fixing but yeah I'm liking it so far" he says referring to the alpha problem.
"So, your pink fuzzy clock didn't purr on time, huh?" He asks cheekily, to which she blushed and says with full seriousness "yes! I swear it's the last time I buy something pink and fuzzy......well at least for a while haha"
"AHAH"
Just as the bell goes Stiles says "well um I guess I'll be seeing you in class"
"Yeah I guess so, bye stiles"
"Bye"
"Oh wait do you know a place in town where i can get an animal, I just talked my dad into getting me one"
"Aha yeah I'm there's an animal clinic about 10minutes away from here, near the woods next to the chemist"
"Ah perfect thank you! .....ok thank you again bye"
"No problem..bye"
"Bye"
and as they both walk in opposite directions, phoebe to the librarian to check out a book and stiles to scott, scott leans over and whispers "why is your heart going so fast, huh?"
"Shut up" stiles grumbles and they walk out, continuing to class where they keep theorising and walk past the twins.

Everyone suddenly hears a snort and turns to look at phoebe who is covering her mouth, trying to silence her chuckles, and if it was possible stiles went even more red.

As they continue to watch the lesson and stiles finally goes up to toss the coin, he looks up and makes eye contact with phoebe, who has a beaming smile on her face and puts her thumbs up, to cheer him on and as he finds this new level of confidence and is about to toss the coin, but the door opens and in walks the sheriff

"I couldn't find her, I just figured she hooked up with her other friends. Has no one really seen her since last night?"

"No, we put out an APB, but....stiles all her friends are saying you were the last person who saw her"

"Me?"

"We hope it's just a series of bad decisions based on too much to drink, but if you remember anything else. You call me alright?"

With advanced hearing scott listens into the conversation but also notices how phoebe has her head tilted towards the door while looking down at her piece of paper, pretending to look like she is focused on it instead but scott soon realises that she heard everything as well.

(At the school scene: "and your sure she heard me?"
"Yeah positive" and then they go to the clinic)

Later

As the boys and deaton fill in the tub of ice, the bell to the clinic rings, signalling a customer, so everyone goes quiet and deaton steps out, to talk to them, all while the others listen and the wolves in the room smell Phoebe's unique smell and look at each other

"Hello, I'm so sorry but we were just about to close" deaton smiles kindly at the young girl and her father

"Ah, no apologies mate, we can come back to look another time" says tyler

"Look?"

"Yeah! Isn't it great I finally talked dad into letting me have a companion"
Deaton simply smiles at her enthusiasm, completely knowing that it was infact not fake and they really were here for a pet but asks

"Companion?"

"Yeah, I don't like the word pet, it's as if we own them and I guess in a way we do but I don't like it that way, I prefer to pick a friend and they pick me, they are living beings too you know, I only say pet sometimes so people know what I'm talking about when I mention how much I want one"

"Haha I completely understand, maybe tomorrow around this time you can come back and I'll let you into the back to see what we have"

"PERFECT, THANK YOU, WE WONT BE A MINUTE LATE, PROMOSE!" She says happily and her dad just smiles at deaton in gratitude and puts his hands on his daughter's shoulders while saying "thanks, we will be back tmmro then dr?"

"Deaton"

"HEHE THANK YOU DOCTOR DEATON"

And as they walk out, deaton is put in a slightly better mood due to her bubbly personality but in the back room, the wolves all look at each other, confused as to what she is but scott catches the smile stiles had on his face.

(Outside)
"There were wolves in the clinic" Pheobe says to her dad, he just stops and says
"Was one of them the same one at school, the scott boy?"
"I don't know....the animal smell and all the chemicals were too much, remember my senses aren't as strong as other creatures are.....are you still ok with coming back tomorrow? if you want we can go to a different store or I can go by myself if your uncomfortable"
"*Chuckles* sweety I don't have anything against wolves, I'm just scared that because there are wolves in town then there might be other supernaturals, this might mean that things around here might get dangerous and I don't want you to get hurt...but yes we will still come back tomorrow"
"YES!!!"
"*Chuckles* alright, alright butterfly calm down, let's go have some fun yeah" he says while he grabs his gun out of his car and refers to them going to the woods where she can be herself while he watches out for anyone who might see her
"Okay! Race ya" and at that she sprints into the woods with him running after her.
