❛ the most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any ❜
TIME HAD BEEN SLOWLY TICKING BY, AS ELOISE COULD FEEL HER INTEREST IN HER MARKETING CLASS GRADUALLY FADING AWAY. Although her lecturer wasn't terrible, the monotonous tone of their voice led her to draw small flowers in the margins of her textbook. She had always found it ironic that a university that boasted about training the next generation of superheroes, offered classes predominantly focused on marking and branding.
She wasn't the naïve six-year-old who used to believe that she would grow up to become a superhero. Even before attending God U, she was aware that Vought prioritised her perceived image over genuine heroism, and only by fulfilling these expectations could she become the superhero that her six-year-old self-dreamed of becoming.
The lecturer noticed that they didn't the attention of their students and took the initiative to shut down their screen projector and instructed the cohort that they were free to leave the classroom. Eloise swiftly gathered her belongings into her tote before heading out the door only to spot Andre slumped against the wall across waiting for her.
"What you standing there a creep?" Eloise asked with a sceptical expression on her features, as she walked down the hallway and felt Andre fall into step with her. "I'm heading to the library if you want to tag along."
"You haven't been answering my text since last night, and I wanted to make sure that you're okay." Andre stated, concern evident in his tone.
"I'm fine Andre." Eloise reassured, trying to push aside the unsettling thoughts from the previous night that had been playing in the back of her mind since she had seen the stranger the previous night. "I just needed to get to my dorm, it was a late night."
"You sure." Andre stated hesitantly.
"I'm sure and I promise to never leave you on delivered again." Eloise joked, giving him a playful nudge.
"Thank you, I don't think that my ego can handle that." Andre nodded with a teasing smile on his lips. "Now moving on to a more interesting conversation."
Eloise rolled her eyes. "I feel like I should be terrified for where this conversation is heading."
"Hush you." Andre stated, waving his hand dismissively at the young girl. "I have been thinking of superhero names for the blood girl from last night."
"Marie Moreau." Eloise stated simply.
"How do you know that? How do you know everything?" Andre asked with an incredulous expression his features.
