It is a normal day on Cerise's Lab. Go starts running like crazy and approaches Ash and Yuma, telling them Houou appeared. Ash and Yuma become completely and utterly shocked. They're now with Director Cerise and his assistants. The Professor is saying to them that the Legendary Pokémon is deeply connected to Johto Region. A screen appears before Cerise and the 3 boys, showing the city where Houou sightings were reported. Ash and Yuma babbling about battling it, while Go wanted to catch the Legendary. The assistants are shocked for what they just said, while the director finds them interesting.
Ecruteak City - Johto Region
Go: We finally arrived, Ecruteak City!
Ash: Alright! Let's find Houou!
Yuma: Ash, Go! Looks like the area around Bell Tower had the most sightings!
Ash: Very well! Let's go now! Houou won't wait for us!
Go/Yuma: Right!
They begin to run to the Bell Tower. A Pokémon appears between the bushes. Go takes his chance and catches it. Ash and Yuma just sighed, remembering him finding the Guardian of the Skies, as it is known, is more important. Pikachu and Eievui look to the sky and see something. The 2 Pokémon call for their trainers and point to what they saw.
Go: That's...
Ash: Houou!
Yuma: I can't believe we found it so quickly! Let's follow him, guys!
They start their pursuit for the Legendary Pokémon. A fire attack is seen going at them.
Ash: Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!
Ash's partner accumulates electricity and launches at his opponent, hitting it. To everyone's surprise, the Legendary Bird slowly falls down.
Yuma: ...0_0... Wait... That's it!? It was so easy...
Ash: Let's see where it goes!
The trio follows Houou. When they arrive, they can see an Hinoarashi and an Onidrill with plastic wings attached to their own, along with a young child.

An old man appears before them with an owl-like Pokémon on his shoulder. It was an Hoho. Chad recognizes him as his grandfather and immediately returns his Pokémon to their Pokéballs. The man stopped and glared at his grandson.
Chad's Grandfather: I thought as much... So when you said you saw Houou before, it was a lie as well? I told you, he does not exist.
He turns around and starts to leave, but Ash stops him. The young boy says Houou does exist. The old man glares at him a little surprised and Ash reinforces his point of view. This time, both Chad and his grandfather look at him.
