"Ae Cha!" Eun Sook shouted. It's been quite a while since she had been waiting for Ae Cha to get ready.
Shouldn't she be grateful? After all, this is the only time since Ae Cha moved in with her she decided to drop her off at work.
"I'm coming, I just need to check something. " Ae Cha replied as she began to look at herself in her large mirror. She was dressed in a nice all-pink skirt suit she got from her brother.
"Xuan has a good fashion sense." She smiled.
Xuan meant everything to her. He is her confidant and she was the only person he could trust. He is quite emotional especially when it comes to people trash-talking his family.
He wasn't so thrilled when Ae Cha decided to leave home and stay with Eun Sook. But what could he do?
That's the only way they could feed. If Ae Cha had lived with them they would have paid double the rent according to the policy. So, it was best she stayed with Eun Sook who decided to house her for free.
Eun Sook was working as a neurosurgeon at Seoul National University Hospital. While Ae Cha worked as an assistant to a psychologist in a less popular hospital.
Initially, she wanted to be a gynecologist but instead became an assistant to a psychologist but she had no choice but to accept the job.
" Ae Cha!!" Eun Sook shouts for the umpteenth time and Ae Cha flinches.
"I'm coming!" She shouts grabs her bag on the table and runs to the living room. She looks at Eun Sook who is looking outside.
" Ready." Ae Cha says and Eun Sook looks at her and her eyes widen in amazement. A look at Ae Cha and all her worries go down.
" Uhuw! Look who's looking hot today." She whistles and Ae Cha smiles and walks to her.
" Don't I look good every day?" She jokes and Eun Sook shirks.
" No." She says straightforwardly and Ae Cha hits her shoulder and pouts.
" I always look good." She says.
" Sure you do. It's just... uh today you brushed your hair properly and you---"
" Enough!" Ae Cha cuts her off and begins to walk out. Eun Sook locks the door quickly and follows her. " I don't need your opinion Cha Miu always thinks I look good."
Eun Sook gasps softly and she smirks cynically.
" So, you dressed so hot for Cha Miu. I knew you both were dating." Ae Cha turns to look at her and scowls.
"Stop it Eun Sook." Ae Cha stops in front of Eun Sook's blue Peugeot 5008 and she gives Eun Sook a striking scowl causing her to flinch.
"You should know by now that I don't dress to impress anyone." She says and before Eun Sook can speak she continues. "Besides, Cha Miu likes me the way I am, with this dress or not. So, stop formulating a love story that isn't real."
Eun Sook stared at her already red friend in utter confusion. Whenever it was about Min Ho she would always tense up.
The thought of losing her only male friend to some relationship that may not end well always made her scared.
" I'm just kidding Ae Cha" Eun Sook laughs fakely and walks to her. "you take things too seriously... I'm sorry."
Ae Cha looks at her angrily but the look on Eun Sook's face isn't a force to reckon with and without much effort, Ae Cha smiles and hits her lightly.
"Why can't I stay mad at you?" She asks and Eun Sook smiles.
"Because you are already used to my taunts. It isn't over." She warns and Ae Cha laughs and nods. "I just wish you could see how much he likes you"
Ae Cha enters the passenger seat while Eun Sook enters the driver's seat.
"I wonder which man would handle your craziness." Ae Cha says and Eun Sook's pride rises.
"Probably someone crazier than me. Isn't that what men like? Wild? Well, I'm not ready for love now." Ae Cha rolls her eyes as she blabs and the car begins to move.
Ae Cha looked out the windows and her facial expression morphs into sadness. Why worry about love when all her life is a huge pile of debts and heartache? Giving her heart to someone would only make things worse.
Right?
She sighs. Of course, it would.
After a few minutes of silent driving, the atmosphere became rather unusual than any normal day of work. Even when all the glass where whined up in the car, indistinct noises were audible.
"What's going on?" Eun Sook asks rhetorically as she makes a U-turn. People were running towards the hospital where Ae Cha works.
"Maybe, the president or someone important visited."Ae Cha says and she hears a loud crash causing her to flinch.
Eun Sook parks the car in horror and Ae Cha gets down immediately she looks around and a bunch of ambulances zoned out of the crowd.
Fear struck Ae Cha immediately and then, there was another crash. She shudders while Eun Sook gasps as she looks up.
No!
Not what she's thinking.
Ae Cha's gaze slowly went up and there was her biggest fear in action.
The 21-foot hospital is being turned into piles of rock and rubbish.
"Oh my Lord!"Eun Sook exclaims.
Ae Cha didn't know how to feel or react. That was her entire life, her only source of wealth now in pieces.
How is she going to survive?
How long will she depend on Cha Miu and Eun Sook? Calculating all the debts she is owning her eyes sprung tears.
She looked at the people bleeding. Who could have done this? This was the only charitable-equipped hospital in Seoul.
She fell to the ground and wept. It wasn't only her who was in deep pain, hundreds of people were sulking and crying for different reasons.
"Ae Cha!"Eun Sook kneels and hugs her.
" Where will I start from? I'm ruined." She cries.
"No, you are not. It will be better."Eun Sook comforts.
A blonde foreigner dressed in a shimmering blue tux struggles out of the crowd that threatened to swallow him due to their heartaches.
But, they knew better. After all, who wants to get on Beom Sook's nerves?
That did be a bloody death sentence.
"Mr. Liam Kent tell me your reason for demolishing this hospital." A Journalist asked as a bunch of different Journalists followed the American businessman.
He released a tired breath and turned around to look a them causing all of them to halt.
" The purpose of this demolishment is to build up an American mall in South Korea. It would be very favourable to both countries' economy and it would make American immigrants happier." He says and some journalists begin to take notes as he turns to leave.
He entered the passenger seat of the Porsche his bodyguard opened for him. With the door closed and keys in ignition the car zoomed to exit.
Ae Cha was left star-struck.
A mall?
She nearly pounced on Mr. Liam as he talked but Eun Sook held her down
She looked at the people crying. Why was no one doing anything? Even Mr. Kim was here. He was the one leading the protest against the felling of an ancient oak tree.
Why now is he quiet?
Who silenced them all?
