"ETHAN REYES COME here right now!" His mother screamed as soon as she stepped into the house, she had only just arrived at work when she had received a call from Max explaining that he had made Sadé cry and refused to follow the rules
Ethan let out a loud groan, he knew as soon as his mother used his full name, that she was extremely angry at him
"Yes mami?"
"Don't yes mami me" she hit the boy atop of his head
"What the fuck was that for?" He hissed, holding onto his head
"Don't play dumb you know what you did" she shouted "you seriously made that poor girl cry because she asked you to follow the damn rules" she continued to shout "and then you walked out of there, why would you embarrass me like that!"
"She was moving funny, saying I needed to take my chain off and shit, she was trying to rob me mami" Ethan defended
"Don't lie to me Ethan" his mother glared at the boy "why can't you just behave"
"It wasn't even my— no I've had enough of your excuses, your going there tomorrow and your going to do what your told, and your gonna apologise to both of them"
"It's not even that serious— don't push me Ethan" his mother stated angrily at the boy
The next day
"I wanna apologise for my behaviour yesterday, it was unacceptable and I'm very sorry" Ethan squinted trying to read the apology letter that his mother had wrote from him and forced him to read
"I understand that you was just trying to do your job and I just made it more difficult than it had to be, from now on I'm going to listen to whatever you say..." he trailed on
Once Ethan was done with his speach Max was the first to speak up "don't worry about it, I understand how it can get" Max began "we forgive you, don't we chip?" He turned to Sadé expecting for her to agree
Normally Sadé was a forgiving person, she always tried to see the best in people, however from her first impression of Ethan she didn't like him at all, and she didn't want to forgive him, so instead of verbally agreeing she let out a small unenthusiastic hum
"Okay then, now that that's sorted, I'm off to work" his mother announced
"You better behave" she whispered under her breath to the boy as she said goodbye before leaving
"I'll be up front setting up if you need me" Max said
Sadé nodded before heading to the back, not bothering to check if the boy was following behind her
As Sadé began to get prepared placing her apron on and washing her hand, Ethan followed lead, he got the hint that she wouldn't be speaking to the boy unless she had too and he was fine with that, he wasn't here to make friends, he didn't even want to come here to begin with
"What I gotta do?" The boy asked as he watched the girl head farthest away from him down to the other side of the kitchen
"Peel and cut those vegetables" she pointed to a bowl that sat on the counter "don't cut them too small, they need to be medium" she instructed
Before Sadé began doing what she needed to do she grabbed her phone and began playing her music, this was something she'd do all the time, she didn't like to work in silence
Ethan internally cringed at the girls music taste, it was extremely shit
"Can you turn that shit down" the boy spoke up after two or three songs had eventually played and he had enough of hearing it
"Why should I?" Sadé replied back sassily
"Because that white girl music sounds ass" the boy insulted
"Take that back" Sadé said, offended by what the boy had said
"Nah, just turn that shit off"
"Stop calling my music the S word!" She told the boy
"The S word?" The boy laughed at the girl as if she had said something funny "just turn off that crap lil girl"
"If my musics bad then what the heck do you listen to!?" Sadé snapped back
"I listen to grown nigga shit"
"Blah blah blah I'm Ethan and I listen to grown nigga shit" sade mocked the boy
"It's Notti actually" the boy corrected
"I'm not calling you that" Sadé shook her head "that's not your God given name"
"Is your God given name chip?" The boy asked
"..."
"Exactly, now pass me the phone and let me put some proper music on" he snatched up the phone beggining to type in his music
"Give me my phone back" the girl groaned, trying to snatch it from the boy only for him to lift the phone higher into the air so she couldn't reach it forcing the girl to listen to the music that played
"This is your song?" The girl asked in realisation, recognising his voice
"Yeah"
Ignoring the fact that the lyrics were extremely inappropriate and he rapped about violent things Sadé actually didn't dislike the song, but she refused to bop her head along to the song like Ethan did and refused to act like she enjoyed it
"What you think?" The boy asked once the song was over
"I hated it" Sadé lied "now give me my phone back" she snatched walking away from the boy
