SILENCE LINGERED IN THE air in the car as they headed back, each of them lost in the aftermath of the kiss they'd shared.
Unlike his usual calm nonchalant behaviour, his usual calmness was betrayed by a strange jittery feeling in his chest, it was strange that a small kiss with Sadé had the boy flustered and nervous, when the boy had done much more with other girls yet had no effect on him
Beside him in the passenger seat, Sade sat quiet as a mouse, stealing glances at the boy, confusion glazed over her eyes.
The kiss they had shared was the girls first kiss and even though she had always pictured it would be like something out of a Disney princess movie were the prince was a hopeless romantic for the princess and instead it had been a stupid silly kiss in a closet as part of a game, she'd quite enjoyed the kiss.
But now seeing the boy so casual, she couldn't help but overthink, wondering if the kiss had meant anything to him that it did to her and came to the conclusion that even though in her mind it was an important moment it was insignificant to him.
As notti drove and neared closer to sades house he pulled over a few houses down, just like when he picked her up, glancing over at the girl he noticed the look on her face, noticing the way her eyebrows were knitted together and her lips were pursed as if she wanted to say something but couldn't find the words
Noticing he wondered if he should've of said something sooner, if he should've told the girl what he was feeling, it was clear Sadé was one of those girls who needed reassurance.
Stepping out of the car and going round to Sadé's side he opened the door for the girl, Sade stepping out of the car.
Sade brows had scrunched together as she tried to think of something to say to break the silence that lingered between them, the girl suddenly losing all ability to speak
"Drive home safe" she finally blurted out, looking up at the boy, swaying side to side nervously
Notti nodded, his lips twitching with a hint of a smile "Yeah I will" he nodded "goodnight Chip" he said softly, calling the girl by her nickname.
Sade smiled "goodnight notti" she said back to the boy softly, then, unexpectedly, her arms wrapped around the boys waist, catching the boy off guard as she engulfed him in a hug, instead of peeling the girl off him like he'd usually do the boy hugged the girl back tightly, savouring the warmth between them.
Eventually pulling apart Sade glanced up at the boy, smiling shyly "okay... bye" she said one last time, stepping back slowly, hesitating, reluctant to part from the boy
Notti watched the girl, just as she turned to walk away from him, his voice broke through the quiet "Sadé, wait" he stopped the girl
contemplating his next choice, he pulled her back, Sade looking up at the boy in confusion waiting for him to speak
The boy held onto the girls face, moving her hair out of her face as he battled his impulsiveness before he eventually gave in, leaning down and kissing the girl, this time softer but more sure than the first
Sadé's eyes widened, stunned by the unexpected action gasped before quickly melted into it, kissing the boy back with a shy eagerness that made his heart pound, the kiss feeling even more natural for the girl than the first kiss that they shared earlier.
When they finally parted, pulling away, Sadé couldn't even bite back the large smile on her face along with her face flushing a deep rosy red
"Sorry" the boy apologised for his spontaneous action even though deep down he didn't mean it, he wasn't sorry at all and he was glad he'd done what he did
"It's okay" Sade smiled looking up at the boy "oops" she giggled, stepping on her tiptoes as she reached up and wiped the boys lips "my lipgloss" she explained
notti chuckled a small smile appearing on his face, he had a warmth in his eyes as he looked at the girl that he couldn't even mask "I'll call you later, okay Chip?"
"Yeah" thr girl nodded, beaming as she turned on her heel, glancing and giving him a final wave goodbye as she walked away, notti waiting for the girl to head inside before driving off.
As Sadé crept inside she noticed that all lights had been turned off in the house, the tv was off and she couldn't see her mom in the main room so she assumed that she'd gone off to bed
However being extra cautious Sadé still tiptoed upstairs, just like when she snuck out she stepped on the edge of the stairs to avoid creeks, just as she was about to make it too her room the hall light flicked on revealing her mom who stood with her arms crossed
"Where were you hm?" The older woman asked, her arched eyebrow raised as she looked at her daughter disappointedly
Sadé realising she'd been caught could only stand there red handed
