"Right, I need to get ready for going out so you'll have to get gone." I tell him. He frowns. "So I don't get to watch you get ready?" He pouts. I giggle. "Nope can do. But one thing you can do is tell me where we're going to?" He raises his brow. "That's for me to know, babe. I'm sure you'll look good in whatever you wear." He teases me. "I need a hint, D. I don't want to be either overdressed or underdressed. Please."

I fiddle with the waistband of his pants to tease him. His eyes close briefly. "You're not playing fair, baby." I decide to act innocently. "I don't know what you're talking about. Tell me a hint at least. Or maybe I'll just turn up in my sexy lingerie underneath a long coat and high heels." I bite my lip as I watch his expression darken. "You're a dark horse, Gaby. Maybe we should ditch the meal date?" I blush but I try not to let it show. "Or maybe... wait, so it's an actual date that we're going on?!?" I question him. He chuckles. "Of course. It's about time I wine and dine you on a date." I beam at him with the biggest smile on my face.
As soon as Donnie left my place, I call Dawn to come over because I have some news for her and I kinda need her help with something. It takes her about twenty minutes to get here. I'm a bundle of nerves when she does arrive! "Hey girlie, I'm sorry it took me so long but I've come supplied. Your brother dropped me off." I look behind her at the front door to watch my brother drive off. Oh guess he isn't popping in to say hi then. She heads straight to the kitchen for some glasses. "I see you've been shopping, that's good babe." She talks loud enough for me to hear her. She walks in from the kitchen with some glasses and places them on the coffee table.

"I'm going on a date

"I'm going on a date." Her face looks at me as if she's in shock. "Donnie Wahlberg is finally taking you out on a date?!" I grin like a Cheshire Cat, giggling at the realisation of going on a date with the said man. "I can't believe it, Dawn. I'm so nervous and I don't know what to wear." She rubs her hands together. "Where is he taking you?" I shrug my shoulders. "He wouldn't tell me as much as I tried to get it out of him." I fiddle with my hands. I watch as she reaches for her phone in her handbag. "Hey, I need to know where you're going tonight. Okay. Then tell me a short list places you might be going to. That's all. Right, thank you. Behave and have fun, see ya!" She puts her phone down and goes to close the curtains. "Let's go to your room and pick out some outfits for you." She gestures for me to get up and lead the way which I do, instantly. I open my closet and step back to browse from a distance. Dawn instead goes to search through and begins pulling out hangers. "Take these into the living room and hang them up on the curtain rail." She drops several clothed hangers into my arms. I carry them through and hang up. She soon follows with more hangers. "Where's your makeup?" I tell her where I store it at. I finish hanging up the rest. I sit on the sofa to look at them all and try to decide but honestly, I have no clue!
I notice there's items that I have forgotten about and I stand up to look at them closely. One outfit catches my eye, I smell it. I can smell my Mum. She and my Dad had bought me this for the Christmas before they both passed away. I hold it close to my heart as if I'm hugging my parents. "Are you okay, Gaby?" Dawn steps to be by my side. I turn my head to look at her but as soon as I see her face, tears begin to fall. She pulls me in for a hug. "Let it all out honey. I'm here, right here for you." A few moments later when my tears begin to stop and I take a deep breath. "This was my given to me by my parents for the last Christmas before they passed away. I can still smell my Mum on it. I don't think I could ever get rid of this." I watch as she tenderly touches the dress. "My Mum told me to wear it for something special." I smile at the memory of adoring it from the moment I opened the present. "Why don't you try it on and see how it feels?" She suggests. I go to my room to find some lingerie to put on.

I walk into the living room and I'm met with a gasp

I walk into the living room and I'm met with a gasp. "Wow, you look absolutely gorgeous! I think you should wear this. It's perfect for what Donnie has planned." I smile. "My parents are with me, and I feel like it was meant to be." Dawn gushes. "Do you have a pair of dangling diamanté earrings and matching accessories such as shoes and handbag?" I lead us back to my room so we can browse together. There we find what we're looking for.
I allow her to do my makeup and style my hair for me. "I still can't believe I'm actually going on a date with him, Dawn. I'm nervous. What if I mess it up or embarrass myself in front of him?" My insecurities appear. "I've been waiting forever for you two to start dating. He hasn't been this way about a girl since I can't even remember and I've known him from the beginning of filming for Blue Bloods. He likes you for you; clumsy and more. Just be yourself." She reassures me. "Who even are you right now because I'm pretty damn sure Donnie isn't going to recognise you?!" My mouth forms the O-face, as I touch my face as if I'm trying to make sure I'm here. "Do I look awful?" She giggles. "Oh no, that's not what I meant. You're a very naturally beautiful person and right now, you look even more so. You are gonna knock Donnie sideways when he sees you!" She smiles.

She holds up the mirror in front of me and I'm astonished at how different yet same I look. The way Dawn has applied my makeup and styled my hair, I feel glamorous.

"Thank you so much. I love what you've done to me. I really hope he likes it too." I hug her. She reaches for her phone and snaps a few photos of me. "I'll send you these. Now what time is he due to pick you up?" I look at the time and notice that he is due at any moment. We sit and finish drinking our glasses of wine. Mine has lemonade in it to weaken it. It's been really lovely having some girl time with Dawn. I'm so thankful to have her as my friend, fast becoming my best friend.
