Kai and Duke found themselves embroiled in a heated argument, exchanging hurtful words in the heat of the moment. The tension reached its peak when Kai confessed to still being in contact with Josh, possibly even engaging in intimate relations with him. Duke's reaction was visceral, his heart sinking as he absorbed the weight of those words. In a fit of rage and hurt, Duke lashed out with a barrage of curses before storming out of the house.
Meanwhile, as Duke made his way to his car, Kai remained rooted to the spot where Duke had left him, grappling with a torrent of guilt and remorse. The sight of Duke's anguished expression haunted Kai, compelling him to seek redemption and mend the fractured bond between them. Kai couldn't shake the discomfort of harboring feelings for his best friend, particularly given the societal taboos surrounding their relationship.
Reflecting on their shared history, Kai couldn't help but recall the animosity his mother harbored towards Duke due to his sexual orientation. Despite his mother's vehement disapproval, Kai remained steadfast in his friendship with Duke, defying her wishes to sever ties with him. "Damn it," Kai muttered under his breath. He needed advice, someone to talk to, and he knew exactly who to call.

Kai retrieved his phone and dialed the Dominican's number, waiting anxiously until he heard his voice on the line.
"Hey," he began tentatively.
"Yo?" Fanum responded.
"Hey, bro, we need to talk. I got into it with Duke," Kai explained, wiping away the tears that threatened to fall.
"What's the issue this time?" Fanum sighed wearily.
"Okay, so..." Kai paused, gathering his thoughts. "I was on the phone with Josh, and Duke overheard us talking about what happened last night. I only hooked up with Josh to get back at Duke, but it escalated into a huge argument. We both said some awful things, and Duke stormed out."
