Sat, Nov 15th.
Kai lay there, his eyes fixed on Duke as he slept soundly on his chest. Duke had been asleep practically the entire day yesterday and now, here he was, peacefully slumbering again. It was currently 3 in the morning, and Kai found himself wide awake with anticipation, unable to fall asleep because of the surprise he had in store for Duke. The excitement bubbled within him, and he couldn't wait to see the look of joy and surprise on Duke's face when he revealed it.
For months, Kai had been meticulously planning the surprise, his heart filled with hope that everything would go smoothly. Since they made the promise to each other to do better, both Kai and Duke had been thriving.
Gone were the days of drama and arguments; instead, they focused on open communication and understanding. Kai had learned the importance of not blowing things out of proportion, while Duke had honed his ability to control his anger and listen rather than act impulsively. Their relationship had blossomed, and Kai couldn't wait to take it to the next level with his carefully planned surprise.
As the clock ticked closer to their departure time of four o'clock, Kai found himself wide awake since three twenty-four. Despite the early hour, he couldn't suppress the smile that crept onto his face as he felt Duke shifting on top of his chest. The moment felt surreal to him, a realization sinking in that he had fallen for Duke much harder than he ever anticipated. Yet, instead of feeling overwhelmed, Kai found himself embracing the depth of his feelings with a sense of acceptance and contentment.
He was actually happy about it.
Duke's groans stirred Kai, signaling his awakening. There was a hint of distress in his voice, causing Kai to become alert.
"What's wrong chunk?" Kai placed small kisses on his cheek.
"N-Nothing.." Duke mumbled, rubbing his eyes.
Kai frowned at Duke's response. He wanted his friend to be open about what was bothering him.
"Foreal, what's wrong?" Kai asked again, sitting up from the bed, concern etched on his face.
Duke sighed, sitting up as well. He kept his eyes away from Kai, feeling uncomfortable. "It was just a bad dream, that's all... I-I didn't really like it this time."
Kai hummed, concerned about how these random dreams were affecting Duke. "You wanna talk about it?" he asked gently.
Duke nodded. "Not right now, maybe later though?"
"Of course baby." Kai gave Duke a kiss on the cheek.
The two lay in bed for a few more minutes, but Duke fell back asleep, leaving Kai awake by himself once again. Despite knowing it would be difficult to wake his boyfriend up, Kai decided to try anyway. He leaned over and gently placed kisses on Duke's cheek, hoping to rouse him from his slumber.
"Baby, come on. We gotta get up."
"Fuck no." Duke whined as he clung tighter onto Kai's body.
"Yes." Kai mumbled, kissing him multiple times.
Duke whined again. "Whyy bruh?" He dragged, opening his eyes a little.
"Cus i have a surprise for you and we have to be on time." Kai responded, lifting the smaller's body up with him as he carried duke into the bathroom.
The taller sat a sleepy Duke down on the counter, turning the water on to the tub, getting the water hot for them. Kai placed one of Duke's favorite bath bombs and body washes in the water, creating bubbles.
Duke watched in admiration at how Kai paid so much attention to the stuff that he liked. It him feel special.
"You ready, pretty boy?" Kai stood up straight after getting the water right for Duke.
"Mhm." Duke nodded his head, still kind of tired.
"I know baby. When we get to where we're going, you'll be able to sleep more." Kai smiled, getting Duke undressed as he sat his dirty clothes on the floor. He picked up the man before placing in tub.
"Y'know, i haven't thought about it yet.. Where are we going?" Duke asked in confusion. Kai got shrugged out his clothing and got in as well, sitting behind Duke.
"It's a surprise. i can't tell you." Kai laughed.
Duke pouted & folded his arms. "Yes the fuck you can!" He tried using his puppy dog eyes on the man but it didn't work.
This time.
"Damn, well i tried." Duke thought to himself.
"It didn't tho." Kai retorted.
"Huh?" Duke turned around to look up at Kai.
"It didn't work so stop trying. You'll see when you see." Kai told him but sternly.
"Mccht, whatever bruh." Duke mumbled, turning back around.
Oh.
Kai tilted his head to the right, snaking his hand up to Duke's neck as he squeezed tight. "What i tell you about that? Don't piss me off."
Duke whimpered, biting his lip at the sudden motion. He loved when Kai took control.
"Y-Yes sir.." Duke hummed, lying his head on Kai's chest.
The taller smirked, loving how fast he made Duke melt into his hands. Kai let go of his throat as he continued laughing. Duke huffed before folding his arms again.
"That's not fair!" Duke snapped, pouting at the action.
"Oh but it is." Kai cackled as he brought Duke closer to him.
"Mccht." Duke snatched his rag off of the shower rod, putting soap on it as he started to bathe. Kai smiled more as he watched Duke, he took the rag out of his hand and began to wash the man's body for him.
"I love you chunk." Kai told Duke before he leaned up and kissed behind his ear. Duke cheesed, feeling warm all over.
