I lay there pretending to be asleep, not entirely sure how long I had been here. I heard the creaking of the floorboards above my head before the door opened. He was coming and this was my moment. I had freed myself from my chains earlier which was not as easy as they make it look. They were closed loosely around my wrists giving the illusion I was still cuffed. I grip the brick tighter as I hear the last step creak. He's reached the bottom. I try to bury the panic rising in my chest.

I take slow steady breaths as I feel him inching closer. I hear rustling and then feel his breath on the side of my face. this is it. I quickly open my eyes as I swing the brick into the side of his face with as much force as I can muster. He crashes to the ground loudly and I jump on top of him, smashing the brick over his head three more times, tears running down my face. The loose chains tumble to the floor noisily as I open the connection to Jordan. I'm sorry. I feel the tears trailing down my cheeks as I climb off of Rhys and make my way slowly, quietly, up the stairs. I see a door to the outside world and I take my chance and make a break for it. I get it unlocked and opened when I hear a creak in the basement. He's up. I bolt outside and, seeing nothing but trees, I run into the forest. I run as hard and as fast as I can in what ever direction. I just have to run. I can hear him slowly catching up behind me.

Love, we are almost to you. Just wait for me. Please stay safe.

Jordan, you try staying safe when a psycho is chasing you through the woods. I'm
hauling ass. forget safe. I just need to be faster than him. A howl splits the air and I stumble a little. It was enough to trip me.

In the next second Rhys has me pinned to the forest floor trying to choke me while simultaneously attempting to remove my underwear. Without the gloves I can see what exactly he has planned for me and I would not live through it. I buck like crazy and let out an ear piercing scream. I will not allow myself to be used. I twist and turn and do everything I can to slow him down. One second he's crushing my throat and i'm struggling to find my next breath and the next a black blur darts over me and latches on to his throat tackling Rhys to the ground at my feet. When I get enough oxygen that i'm no longer seeing stars I sit up to see a wolf pinning Rhys to the ground in submission.

i'm terrified and I don't move. So jordan.... there's a wolf.

I can sense his smile in his words. Thank god! Augi found you! When you disappeared I called some friends of mine. Shifters. They needed somewhere to live and we needed help so tell Augi I said hi and that Dante is leading us there.

"Umm... Augi?" I whisper and the black wolf peers up at me. "Oh wow. Oh uh I'm supposed to tell you Dante is leading everyone here?" the wolf sniffs and nods. It is the freakiest thing ever. I take a deep breathe and fall back. For the first time in a long time I can relax and not worry about anything.
