(Sam)

I made sure the school's hallways were empty before locking myself in the boy's bathroom, I sighed heavily as I slid to the floor and let my head fall back onto the white sparkly wall, for a school's bathroom it was unusually clean... and smelled of flowers.

I jumped when when a boy stumbled out of one of the stalls, his face was briused, bottom lip was busted all the way to the bottom of his chin. He held onto his ribs and was breathing heavy, his brown eyes landed on me and they widened. "Shit." He croaked as he slid to his knees, his eyes watered as he looked at me. "Don't tell anyone. Please." I snorted silently and shrugged at him. Not like I could tell anyone.

We just stared at each other for a while before he spoke again "You're that mute senior arn't you?" I pressed my lips into a thin line and shot him a glare, I hated it when people called me mute. He seemed to catch on quickly and bowed his head, "Sorry."

He glanced up at me as I let my eyes fall closed, I ran my fingers over the sleeves of my jacket. I smiled gently at the stinging burn of the gashes that littered my arms under the fabric. How Luke and Mika haven't found out yet I'll never know, those two are so wrapped up in that fake smile I put on they just don't seem too bothered to worry much.

My mother's face flashed in my head, "How did you get that scar on your eye?" I opened the eye that had the scar on it. The bottle mom threw at me had caused it, it was also the glass from that bottle that ruined my vocal cords.

I stared blankly at the boy, he looked like a freshman. Wouldn't surprise me, the freshman at this school always get the brunt of the bullies. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and typed in how I got the scar then handed it to the boy. He read it before nodding slowly, he didn't seemed surprised "Yeah, I know how that is. Happy people can't be trusted."

He mumbled the last part, taking me by surprise. I snatched my phone back and asked him what he ment by that. His face darkened "I mean exactly what I say. Think about it, when people thought we were just like them we had no trouble. Your parents still loved you, and I still had friends. Once we told people our differences I lost all my friends and suddenly I never walk around completely healed, and your father left, leaving your mother to wither away in her hate and try to kill both of you."

What he was saying seemed to make perfect sence to me, I frowned. Would Luke and Mika turn on me like my mom? Would they grow so sick of seeing me it would drive them crazy and try to kill me?

I flinched at the thought, the boy coughed and sit blood on the floor "By the way, my name's Kenith." He held out his hand to me and I smiled when I saw the many fresh and old scars littering his underarm. I lifted my hand and pulled back my sleeve before reaching over and gripping his hand, we were the same.

The week passed by almost uneventfully, save for the occational insult and running from bullies.

Kenith didn't talk much when we were around people, but he was a chatterbox when we were alone. We sat in the bathroom together all the way until lunch were we picked a table and nibbled on the one tray of food we got. No way was I able to finish that on my own so there was no point in getting two trays.

"Hey Sam?" I looked up at Kenith, he was looking at me cautiously. "Would you like to stay a night at my house with me? Its just me and my animals, but the house is awfully big." I threw him a lopsided smile and nodded. I'd have to tell Luke and Mika I won't be coming home today.

I pulled my phone out and sent Luke a text, Kenith watched me as I stared at the phone's screen. Luke was always a slow texter, so it took nearly 10 minuted for him to tell me that was fine. Kenith snickered at me "You alway do what your brothers say?" I shot him a glare before typing on my screen 'They r not my brothers. I'm an only child. They just took me in since I'm underage. I barely know they besides the fact they r both perverts.'

Kenith's eyes flicked over the words, he looked up at me shocked "You mean they hit on you?" My face turned red when I remembered what they had done to me. "Wait, they didn't.... touch you did they?" I averted my eyes and clasped my hands together, crap I shouldn't have said anything!

What if he doesn't want to be my friend now? I froze when his arms wrapped around me and he pulled my head into the crook of his neck. "I'm so sorry." I frowned, don't be sorry. I liked it.

Later that day, as we were leaving the school Kenith tentively pulled my hand and wrapped his own around it. Shocked I stopped walking and stared at our two hands, his face turned red and he went to pull again "Sorry."

I held onto him tighter when he pulled, he paused and looked at me. I let a real smile creep onto my lips and started to walk again, closer than before. His body was warm and felt nice next to mine, but I felt guilty and scared. I don't think Mika is the kind of guy to say a bluff, which means is he saw this then Kenith would be hurt.

I shrugged that thought off for the time being, no point in worrying over it right now. Kenith was an inch taller than me. His hair was cut short and sat high on his forhead, his physical features didn't match his personality. He should look like a small guy, with a lean figure but he was tall and had fairly broad shoulders and strong arms, but despite his size he was a wimp. I found it cute.

When we stopped walking a three story house stood before us, it was a white house with a black trim, something I had never seen on a house before. Kenith paused and scratched the back of his head looking away from me "I-uh, kinda lied about it just being me. I have an older brother, he takes care of me since both mum and dad are mentally unfit to do it." He paused "I also have a few animals."

I threw him a smile and jumped when my phone started to vibrate, pulling it out I saw Luke was calling me. I pushed my eyebrows together and answered "Sam, I needed to tell you Mika and I are leaving real quick, mom's business trip got cut short and we have to fly out to pick her up." Mika's voice sounded on the other end telling me to have sweet dreams about them before the line went dead. Kenith stared at me.

"Who tells someone to have sweet dreams about them?" I jumped and let out a silent scream when a hand landed on my shoulder. I quickly freaked out and jumped on Kenith pulling his head and clutching it to my chest in a bad attempt at calming my franticly beating heart.

There was a chuckle from a deep voice and a tall, muscular guy with black hair stepped into my feild of vision. He looked like an older version of Kenith "Sorry bout that. Kenny doesn't normally bring friends home."

Kenny huh? I paused and looked down at the boy I was still clinging to, I gasped and stumbled away from him clasping my hands behind my back and looking at the ground. "Hey Vince, where did you go to?" Kenny's voice was light and relaxed, odd for him normally he is tense as fuck.

"I went to the store, we were running out of cat food faster than normal since the dog keeps getting into it. Anyway who is this? He couldn't be that boy you've been blabbering about all week can it?" Kenny laughed nervously and shot his brother a glare. "This is Sam, and yes he is. Sam this is my brother Vince."

I waved at him and he smiled "Come on, its suppose to rain tonight. Let's get cozy." I followed them in and was instantly pushed to the ground by four dogs, all Huskies. Within seconds my face was drenched in dog slobber.

Vince whistled and they followed him into the other room I wiped my face off and grabbed Kenny's extended hand, he laughed "Sorry, that's usually the greeting I get." I shuddered thanking my body for keeping my mouth close while that went down. I alowed Kenny to grab my arm as he yelled at his brother that we would be upstairs.

He tugged me all the way to the thrid floor and into a large room, the walls had paintings of coy fish and dragons all over them with elegant rivers and greenary everywhere. My mouth fell open as I stared at it all "This is my room. You like it?" I slowly nodded as I admired the work covering the walls. "I did it myself, took me a whole week to get just the outlining done. Nearly a month to finish the painting."

My eyebrows went up, wow. After my gawking finished we settled down and finished our homework together, it was dark by the time we got done. I yawned and my eyes desided to close on their own, it didn't take long to pass out, right on his bed.
