Sam blinked his eyes open when the sun shined through the curtains and blinded him. He rolled over in bed to come face to face with a sleeping Lauren. Her curls were in her face and she was snoring softly. Sam smiled to himself; he wouldn't want to wake up to anything else.
Lauren yawned, stretching her arms over her head and then opening her eyes. She smiled when she saw Sam looking at her.
"Good morning," Sam smiled. "How did you sleep?"
Lauren nodded and flopped a tired arm across Sam's neck. "Like a baby. And you?"
Sam grinned before tilting his head to kiss Lauren's arm. "I'm surprised Poe didn't wake us up."
Lauren shrugged. "He probably found his secret stash of treats. I honestly don't mind."
Sam shook his head and wound his arms around Lauren, pulling her closer to him. "Nope. I don't mind at all."
Sam had just pressed his lips against hers when Poe came running into their room, his tags jingling before he jumped up onto the bed, wiggling in between the two of them.
Lauren laughed and kissed the side of the black pit bull that had settled itself between her and Sam. "We spoke too soon, Sammy."
Sam frowned and managed to wriggle his arm out from underneath the fifty pound dog and patted it's back. "You're stealing my wife, Poe."
In response, Poe looked at Sam and grinned, his tongue lolling out happily.
"Sorry, Sam," Lauren laughed, "you may have some competition."
"Yeah right," Sam growled, wrapping his arms around the dog and heaving it up and over his body so that Poe was laying on the other side of him. Poe took this as an invitation to play and immediately leaped on top of Sam and began dragging his slobbery tongue all over Sam's face.
Sam laughed and pushed him off, Poe yapping and barking happily. Eventually, Sam gave up, realizing that Poe would never run out of energy, and rolled out from under the blankets.
"Fine, fine," Sam groaned. "You win."
Lauren laughed as Poe continued to bark and jump happily. "You two are such weirdos. Sam, what do you want for breakfast?"
Poe barked at the word and Lauren rubbed the top of his head.
"Yes, Poe, you get breakfast too," Lauren assured him. "Sam?"
"Uh...I was thinking waffles?"
"Sounds good to me." Lauren pushed herself out of bed and tugged a sweater on over her pajamas.
Sam grinned at his adorable wife. She was almost six months along and Sam couldn't love her any more than he already did.
"What are you looking at?" Lauren asked.
"Oh, nothing. Just my beautiful wife."
Lauren laughed. "You're too nice."
Sam shook his head. "I'm only being honest."
Lauren made her way to him and planted a kiss on his lips. "I am so lucky to be married to you."
"I'm more lucky," Sam mumbled, kissing her back.
Poe barked, impatient for his breakfast.
"Alright, alright," Lauren said. "Come on, let's go get food."
After breakfast, Lauren and Sam made their way to the file room of the Bunker that sat in front of the dungeon and began sorting through files. Sam and Lauren had started organizing the files in this room after Zoe and Dean had moved out. It gave them something to do and Lauren actually enjoyed the work. Sam enjoyed that Lauren enjoyed it.
Since Lauren was pregnant, they had moved a stool into the room so that she had a place to sit that wasn't the hard floor. Lauren was seated on the stool at the moment looking through multiple files in a large box in front of her and Sam was smiling.
"You're starting to be sorta creepy," Lauren said, not looking up from the papers in her hand.
Sam chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry but I just happen to be married to the most gorgeous woman on the planet."
Lauren laughed, a happy, pleased laugh that made her throw her head back and wrap an arm around her distended tummy. "You're probably the sweetest person I've ever met, Sammy."
Poe ran in at that exact moment, before Sam got a chance to respond, and dropped a chewed up tennis ball at Sam's feet. Poe looked up at Sam expectantly and let his tongue hang out of his mouth, eager for Sam to play with him. Sam obliged, picking up the ball and walking to the doorway to chuck it down the hallway. Poe ran eagerly after it.
"I've got a file here on ru..." Lauren tilted her head and her eyebrows came together in confusion as she looked at the word. "It's a ru..."
Sam made his way over to her and put his chin on her shoulder to look at what she was reading. "A rugaru," he explained. "They're basically cannibals."
Lauren gagged. "Ew. Well it's from 1937, anyway, so it shouldn't be in this box with all the stuff from 1943. Do we have a pile for--Oh!" She gasped and pressed a hand to her bulging stomach.
"What?" Sam asked. "What's wrong?"
"Give me your hand," Lauren told him.
Sam obeyed and she pressed it against her stomach, just under her rib cage.
"Do you feel that?" Lauren asked, looking up at him with a large smile on her face.
At first, Sam had no clue what she was talking about until he felt a small kick against his palm. He gasped too, pressing his other hand against her belly as well. "Was that him?"
"Or her," Lauren said.
Sam rolled his eyes. "Whatever."
Lauren had wanted it to be a surprise so they hadn't gone in to check the gender. Sam insisted it was a boy but Lauren was positive it was a girl. It was mostly just teasing but they did have a running bet going. They had also picked out names. If it was a boy, he would be Andrew Samuel. Lauren had wanted to name him Samuel James but Sam didn't want him to be a Junior. If it was a girl, she would be Mary Lynn. Mary because they wanted to name her after Sam's mom and Lynn because it was pretty.
Sam felt the kick against his palm again and kissed the side of Lauren's head happily.
"You're amazing," Sam whispered into her hair.
