Chapter 13: Milton

Chester caught an appetizing smell on the breeze. Despite eating half a pizza, he was a natural glutton, and was always willing to stuff more food inside him if space permitted. He figured they must be approaching the school, because he smelled humans, a sizable collection of them. His mouth started to drip like a leaky faucet. His cravings were particularly strong today, and he was having trouble holding himself back. If Joey hadn't intervened, he wasn't sure if he would have refrained from devouring Eren. He would've pushed her through his lips, rolled her on his tongue, stuffed her in his cheeks, sucked on her, swallowed...

Chester exhaled and tried to push those delicious thoughts out of his head. He couldn't entertain his fantasies when he was surrounded by humans. It made the temptations so much worse. He focused on his steady breathing, inhaling and exhaling. He breathed through his mouth, rather than his nose, so the tantalizing aroma of his prey wouldn't be quite so overpowering. He recited the Maneaters Anonymous mantra in his mind: I am a gentle giant. I am a friend to humans. I would not, could not, ever eat or hurt anyone.

The big metal gates and hedges of the boarding school appeared on the horizon. Joey strolled toward them with confidence, with Chester trailing behind as he grappled with his twisted desires. Jackie must've sensed the change in his vitals, the quickening of his pulse and the ragged heaves of his breathing, because she brushed her hand over his palm. He looked down at her to meet her gaze. She nodded to him, expressing she understood what he needed and gave him permission. Chester stroked her side with his finger and entered through the gate. He could hold off for the time being. He had control.

The boarding school had changed significantly since Eren attended back in the day. There were more human students now, not a huge quantity but still a significant number, perhaps a few dozen or so. Designated bike paths marked the sidewalks and floors within the building for safety, so humans wouldn't get stepped on. Cameras were installed for additional security.

The group arrived after the bell rang, and students were transitioning to their next classes, so the hallways were crowded with students. Chester resisted his compulsion to chase after and pounce on the fast-moving human bikers. They looked as if they'd be a lot of fun to hunt. He smirked to himself. Perhaps he should get Jackie a bike, and then he could chase her around the house and catch her. He slurped up the slobber forming in his mouth and glanced down at Jackie. She was irresistible. Now was not the best time, but Chester didn't want to wait any longer. He raised her up to his lips.

"Jackie, may I now?" he whispered. With how loud the students were, nobody else would overhear.

Jackie peered over his hand at the human students down below. "Yeah, I'd rather you not eat anyone else," she agreed. Though she didn't say so out loud, Jackie felt scared and overwhelmed being around so many giants in one place, since such a gathering of colossal man-eaters would not be safe at all for her in the Land of Giants. She would feel much safer inside Chester, hidden away, surrounded by his reassuring warmth. Chester opened his mouth and quickly lapped her up. He took his time savoring her on his tongue, gently caressing her with the inside of his mouth, sucking on her like a jawbreaker. He didn't want to swallow her right away.

Chester followed Joey and Eren into the principal's office, slurping on his lovely wife in his mouth gleefully. "Hi, Dad!" Eren chirped from Joey's hand.

"Eren! Joey! What a pleasant surprise!" Principal Henderson said. His whole face lit up with joy when he saw his favorite people. "What brings you here?"

"There's someone here who says he's a friend of yours," Joey clarified, and moved out of the way so Chester could enter the office.

"Hi, Milton!" Chester greeted him with his mouth full of Jackie and a friendly wave.
