"But why?" Angel whined.

Charlie sighed. "Because Al is going to kill you otherwise, and you've been a bit of a jerk lately."

"B-but Charlieeee! I don't wanna do manual labor! I'm too pretty!" the spider pouted.

Husk grumbled. "It's two rooms, idiot. You're not being enslaved or something."

"But there's so much stuff!"

Charlie gave him an unamused look. "Which is why Husk needs help! The new residents are coming in two days!"

"Why can't they help move their own sh*t! Could be part of their whole redemption thing!"

Charlie huffed. "Well, for starters, they aren't sinners."

Husk and Angel froze.

"And they're going to be staff too, so I would appreciate you helping to move them in."

"Staff?" Husk echoed.

Charlie nodded. "I'll tell all of you the details later, but trust me. This is great news."

The cat and spider exchanged looks.

"Uh..." Angel started tentatively. "These people, introduced to ya by Al?"

She chuckled. "Nope!"

She started looking over the boxes, scrolling through texts on her phone. "Al isn't the only person allowed to have connections."

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

Husk glanced back at the sweating, frustrated-looking arachnid.

He was carrying one medium-sized box, despite his multiple arms.

Husk was calmly carrying two large ones.

Well, at least he was trying. Husk could do without some of the moping, though.

Every trip, every time he set down the box.

Halfway through, Husk gave up.

"If it's really that bad, you should just sit in one of the rooms and hide from Charlie until I'm done."

Angel huffed. "It's not that bad."

Husk gave him a look.

"Okay, fine, I hate this."

"...don't you hold your own body weight up on those poles?"

"Those are different muscles!" the spider shot back.

Angel started walking forward again.

"Angel, I literally just gave you an out. I'll even cover for you."

"But then- how would I spend time with you, baby?" the spider cooed, not turning around.

"F*ck off."

"Rude."

"Rude is not leaving somebody alone."

Angel rolled his eyes as they stepped into the room. "...hon, you are a mess of mixed signals. Weren't we talking for like three hours at your bar yesterday?"

"I'm not interested in a hookup or being a client."

The spider suddenly looked bitter. "Oh, so that's it?"

"What?"

"Nice to know that's what you think of me."

"What the f*ck?"
