The four people sat in the empty cafe staring at everything else but each other. Julian couldn't look Lurina in the eye since the last time they had an interaction together, Luna didn't know what happened but she decided against prying into it, since both of them swore never to talk about it again. Lurina wanted to stare at Justin Beaufort, she was his favorite actor in the hollywood scene, but of course she couldn't just blatantly stare at the man, seeing as he was tied to her sister already. Luna wanted to avoid this conversation as much as possible, but the recent events did spark some ideas in her brain, she was lodging out a perfect new story that she would introduce to Julian later. Justin was confused and felt awkward, he hadn't met the other two people yet and he was too nervous to say anything. So silence filled the air, the clock on the wall ticking by and everyone clearing their throats once in a while, hoping someone would break the comfortable deafening silence.
"So..." Julian finally erupted the silence, everyone releasing the breath they didn't know they were holding. "How's the cafe coming along, Lurina?"
Lurina whipped her head around at the mention of her name, she was shocked to see that Julian would even address her. The air was thick with tension, and Luna watched the interaction intently. Justin was confused, but still curious as to how this would play out.
"I don't think you all are here to talk about my Cafe, Julian." Her voice was stern, and her eyes narrowed in a glaring stance. Julian seeped in a breath, his jaw ticking ever so slightly.
"You're right. Sorry." He muttered, feeling anxious as she stared at him even after he looked away.
"Right- Lurina, actually..." Luna spoke next, all attention on her suddenly making her panic. She took a breath, rubbing her hands on her thighs to calm the constant thudding and loudness of her heart. "Justin and I, are together."
There was a pause, it was as though the air around them was extremely fond of the silence that the four constantly welcome. Julian widened his eyes, coughing on nothing as his heart practically jumped out of his chest. Justin smirked as he watched everyone else's face contort into shock, confusion and regret, it was like watching a sitcom to him.
"Not- together, together." Luna tried to explain. "We're in a contractual relationship."
"Well- not yet. I haven't signed anything, love." Justin finally spoke, his accent thick and musky. A smirk was present on his face, in the back of his brain he found this entire situation amusing.
Lurina only nodded her head, pursing her lips into a thin line to process exactly what her sister and the man beside her was trying to say. She didn't understand much about contracts, or hollywood relationships, or anything of the sort but she knew this was probably a bad idea. Finally she turned to Julian, who immediately got the hint.
"It's a bad idea, yes. But if you think about it..." He started, trailing his eyes elsewhere. His thoughts were jumbled as he tried to come up with a way to break it to Lurina without confusing her even more. "It benefits both of them. Luna would stop being pestered by those relentless paparazzi, and Justin could finally breathe without having women down his neck. They would only pretend when absolutely necessary, and they would stay loyal for the cameras. There's boundaries and what not, it's just that they need to come to an agreement on how far they would go with this."
"Marriage."
"Not that far."
Yet again, silence filled the air.
Luna turned to face Justin with a shock-ridden face. She wanted nothing more than to finally be free from the constant questions of "Prince Charming", not to be tied down, especially to a man she didn't know. Justin's brows furrowed as he stared deep into Luna's eyes, not being able to read her emotions anymore. She was like a mystery to him now, a book that was closed yet the title was the key to opening it. To him, he wouldn't mind being tied down to her, even though he knew nothing of her, but he felt a tinge of hurt when he realized she didn't have the same idea in mind.
"Uhm.." Lurina leaned closer to Luna, whispering into her ear, "A word, please?"
The two girls stepped away from the other two, entering the employee only room while the men conversed amongst themselves about the contract. Lurina took a sigh and Luna ran a hand through her hair, she was stressed and honestly didn't know what to think about right now. Her brain was wondering, and the fact that Justin had just said he wanted to marry her was not doing her any peace right now.
"First, are you ok?"
Luna heaved out a sigh, despite her sister's unbearably stern ways she always managed to recognize when Luna was unhappy or in distress. It was their unspoken thing, Luna would just visit Lurina, not even saying anything and Lurina would simply open her arms for a hug, knowing that her sister needed to be comfort. They were closer in that way, compared to their other siblings.
"I'm fine, I haven't really slept in a while. But after tonight, I'm gonna take a big fat nap." Luna started rambling again, Lurina only nodded and listened. She held her ground when her sister started blabbling away, never once did her attention leave the woman in front of her. "I think after tonight, I'm gonna need a long break. I'll ask Julian for a vacation, but of course he might have something to say about it."
"I'm not even sure why he agreed to this whole fiasco. He could've just left me to myself, and dismissed it. Why did I even come up with this? I didn't think this through, what if everyone finds out that we're faking it? What would happen to my reputation?"
"Stop overthinking." Lurina paused her sister from rambling on, Luna let out a breath and nodded her head as she awaited Lurina's words. "I'm not entirely sure if this thing is a good idea-"
Luna opened her mouth once more, Lurina simply shooting her a gaze that made her close her mouth again.
"Honestly, I'm kinda against it, if I'm being honest. I know Justin Beaufort might be my favorite actor, but we don't him personally. I have my doubts about this, heck the man might be a serial killer and we just don't know it yet, but... "
There was a hesitation in her voice, she looked up to find the next words she wanted to say, Luna waited patiently. It was clear to both of them that this was a very big decision and it had to be thought through.
"I trust Julian. Despite, our history. He's a level-headed person. He cares for you, and he would do anything to make sure nothing harms you. So, I don't think that Julian would've gone through with this if he felt that it could destroy you, or your reputation." Lurina kicked the back of her feet as she stared at the ground. The tiles needed cleaning, and the smell of coffee was starting to dull the scent of everything else, there was a sense of childhood calmness that made this situation feel simple and peaceful. For whatever reason, Lurina felt it deep in her heart that Luna should go through with this.
"Maybe you should give it a try?"
Luna stared at her sister, her brown eyes hidden by her wavy hair displayed a level of sincerity that Luna hadn't felt in so long. She had always envied her sister's eyes, they were absolutely gorgeous, especially when illuminated by any light, whereas her blue eyes seemed unnatural and completely different from the rest of the family. She was an outcast in that way, but the look in her sister's eyes embraced her warmly. They told her that she wasn't alone, and that her sister would always be with her. Maybe her overthinking was getting the best of her, maybe this wasn't such a bad idea, maybe things might work out.
"Maybe."
