I'm perfectly on time the next day. I sit down at my desk and I am beyond excited to start my first real day at CSI. I'm startled when a stack of papers hit the surface of my desk.

"I was told to give this to you. You have to read it and sign it when you're done," I look up to meet the same green eyes as I did yesterday. A 'good morning' would have been nice. I think we've got the wrong impression of each other.
"Harry!" I call when he turns around to leave. He confusedly faces me, his brows furrowed.
"Who ordered me to do this?"
"I don't believe the new ones get to ask questions here," he answers in all seriousness.
"Excuse me? Well I believe I have a right to know who told me to sign these papers." I fire back, smiling slightly when he looks a bit taken aback.
He slowly leans in, placing his large palms on the table. Our faces are only inches apart.
"Look newbie, you don't talk to me that way. I could get you fired in an instant, so watch it." He says sternly. His voice is deep and slow and to be honest; he does intimidate me. I gulp to which he seems satisfied. He turns around and makes his way down to his desk. It's only a few meters from mine, and we can easily see each other. What is it with this guy?

"Good morning," Amila beams as she sits down across from me. She immediately finds a stack of papers and starts to go through it, scribbling something here and there. Zoe arrives a few minutes later, her blond hair bouncing as she walks in her high heels through the aisle. She greets us quickly but is off to a meeting, so she disappears again a few minutes later.
"Amila?"
"Mhmm," she doesn't look up from her work.
"Do you know when there'll be a case?"
I hear someone snort, and snap my head up to see Harry looking straight at me. I glare at him, but to be honest I'm a little embarrassed. I probably sound like a whining child who wants an icecream or something.
Amila finally looks up: "I'm not sure, you can go ask the boss if there's any available cases you could join." I thank her quietly and immediately head for the boss' office. I knock two times before someone opens the door. It's Sandra and I smile at her to which she nods.
"Good morning miss Basset. What can I do for you?" Mr. Dickinson asks as I sit in the chair in front of his desk.
"I was wondering if there are any cases or missions I could possibly participate in solving?"
He looks at me for a few seconds and I shift uncomfortably under his gaze.
"Not at the moment, bus as soon as there is, I will be sure to put you on it," he finally says.
"Thank you," I say and he dismisses me.
I spend most of the day reading the stack of papers Harry gave me this morning. I have yet to find out his last name. I don't get why he's being so rude but I figured that that's probably how he treats all new employees here. I'm torn from my thoughts when someone yells through the office:

"Everyone at the meeting-room, now!"

In less than two minutes all of us are in the meeting room. Mr. Dickinson is sat at the end of the table and the rest of us is standing.

"We have a murder folks," he begins and my stomach twists. My first case.
"A woman and her husband was found twenty minutes ago in their apartment. Identities; Carrie Brown, 46, worked as an attorney and Pete Brown, 48, also worked as an attorney, former member of The Hells Angels Motorcycle gang. Amila and Ryan you do background checks. Find all connections, old ones too. Harry and Duck will be going to the scene. Get the bodies here quick so we can start the autopsy. Zoe you take care of the evidence as usual. We want this killer found as quickly as possible, understood? Get going," he claps his hands together and everyone files out of the room. Except me.
"Excuse me, boss, I don't think I was mentioned, can you tell me what my errand is?"
"Sign the rest of the papers," he answers without looking up from his laptop.
"But you told me I would be put on the next case?" I ask confused and disappointed.
"This case will be too much for someone as new as you, so I changed my mind, miss Basset,"
"But I.."
"Miss Basset, go run your errand, now." He says sternly.
Before I can answer a voice from behind interferes.
"She can come with me boss," I immediately know it's Harry and I am nothing less than shocked at his proposal.
"I will teach her the routines and how to work at a crime scene," he continues and I can see Dickinson considering Harry's suggestion. Please.
"Okay. But don't mess it up."
