January 24, 2022:

All those events are what led Tommy to where he is now. In a decent-sized apartment with his closest friend, Purpled. They both got a job at a nice cafe and their lives are fairly normal now.

They don't have much drama to deal with, and they have a stable life.

They ran away from their homes 2 years ago and Tommy just finished explaining to his new cat what it was like back then. Tommy was looking at his cat with full expectation, hoping for a nice reaction.

"meow" is all the animal says.

Tommy lets out a disappointed sigh and turns to Purpled with a bored expression on his face.

"Seriously, I spill my guts to this dumb cat and all he does is meow. I went into full detail! Does he even have feelings?" Tommy fake pouts and quickly snatches the cat from the table. "Ha! This is karma."

Purpled chuckles at the dumb blonde in front of him and speaks up. "Tom, I don't think he can do anything else. Also, Bitzel said they can't meet up this weekend. They have finals to study for."

Tommy nods understandingly and pets the cats ears. He carries the cat and walks to his room while making random baby noises to the cat.

"I'm going to sleep. Good night Purp!" "Good night, Tommy,"

Tommy smiles as the cat jumps out of his arms and runs towards its own room. Tommy turns around and enters his own room. He lays on his bed, puts his phone on his dresser, and closes his eyes.

---

Needless to say, Tommy still can't sleep. However, this doesn't come as a surprise anymore.

Tommy sighs as he stands up and walks over to his dresser. He pulls open the bottom drawer and pulls out an orange bottle with the name 'Zaleplon' written on the front.

Tommy opens the bottle and tilts it slightly for one pill to land on his palm. He sighs and swallows the pill. Maybe he should've drank water with it, but it's too late now.

His face shifts as he realizes how dry his throat is and how little pills he has left. He'll have to buy more later.

Tommy  puts the lid back on the bottle and hides it underneath a couple of clothes he never wears. Tommy shuts the drawer and walks back to his bed and lays back down. Hopefully he'll fall asleep this time.

..

Once again, it's a complete failure.

Tommy tries going for a short walk, fails.

He tries drinking milk, but fails. And the milk tastes bad.

He tries counting sheep, another failure.

It's not new to Tommy. It always happens. He takes his pills and does random things until the pills kick in. Sometimes they never do. He doesn't know why.

Tommy groans and turns to his side for the hundredth time that night. If he's gonna stay up for another 5 hours, he wants to at least be comfortable.

---

Clearly the pills have yet to start taking effect on Tommy, as he's still awake even after 2 hours of waiting. Normally Tommy doesn't mind the lack of sleep, but tonight is different. Tommy has work and a new job interview.
