Tommy walks outside only to be greeted by a shocked expression on his once brother's face and his old friend standing next to him with a smug grin on his face.

"TOMMY?" Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. FUCK!

Tommy takes hesitant steps towards the two and awkwardly scratches the back of his neck. "Nice to meet you?"

Wilbur tears up and runs to hug his brother. Tommy allows it, although it feels uncomfortable. "You can't tell anyone." Tommy feels Wilbur nod, so Tommy hugs back.

A few minutes pass by and the two hear Deo clearing his throat. "Do I get a raise now?" Wilbur scoffs and pulls away from the hug, instantly missing it. Tommy notices how Wilbur slowly nods and smiles brightly. Yet it seems sad.

"I wish we could've had a more dramatic meet up, but I guess not." Tommy chuckles, but it's halfhearted. "You know we're gonna have to talk about everything, right?"

How could he not know. It's what Tommy has been fearing the most. He knew that at some point in life, he would have to meet his family again. He knew that he would have to confront them. But he didn't think it would be so soon.

It's only been two years since he's been freed, yet it seems like it's only been a couple of months.

He doesn't want to talk with any members of his family, but now he'll have to have one of the most serious conversations with the one that did the most damage. Sure, they can interact every once in a while now, but that can't make up for all the lost time.

"You wanna get it over and done with?" That sentence strikes Tommy with so much relief. He wants to get this over with as quickly as he can.

Wilbur notices the relief on Tommy's face and smiles. "We could go to that cafe just near this building?" Tommy nods and smiles. "Yeah. But you swear that you won't tell Techno and Phil about me working here, right?"

"I won't. Don't worry. But I will force you to visit sometimes. Not when they're home though. Which.. they barely are."

"So, it's the same as before?" Wilbur sighs and pushes his hair back. "It never changed."

Tommy isn't going to lie, he fully expected his family to have gotten better after realizing what they did to the youngest, but some people just never change. Tommy should've expected this.

"We can go to that cafe after work. I don't know if you want to, but we could just discuss some things and then I'll leave you alone." Tommy dwells on the offer for a while.

It's true, he wants to get everything over and done with and forget about the entire awkward interaction, but he also doesn't know what to say. He doesn't even know if he truly wants to forgive them!

Sure, Wilbur seems to have changed, but Tommy still can't trust them.

---

He forgave him.

The two exchanged numbers and are now about to meet up since work just ended. According to Wilbur, he's going to try his best to make them the best brothers again. If they ever were.

Tommy parks in front of the cafe and mentally prepares himself for whatever happens when he walks in.

With one last final sigh, he opens his car door and climbs out before shutting the door behind him and locking it. He shakily walks into the cafe and almost all of his worries leave when the familiar scent of copper and wood hit him.

Before Tommy can even admire the way the cafe looks, he notices a familiar brunette sitting in a booth near the corner of the cafe.

Tommy sighs and walks over to his brother. He's sitting in a small and cozy booth in the corner of the room with nice candles on the table to add to the already nice scenery and scent. It has a placemat on each corner of the table and there's already a cup of coffee in front of one of the empty seats.

When Tommy is near the booth, the brunette looks up and smiles.

"You actually came! I got you a hot chocolate. I don't know if you still like them, but I didn't know what else to get." Wilbur awkwardly scratches the back of his neck and takes a sip out of his own drink. Tommy smiles and carefully sits down while grabbing his hot chocolate and drinking it with full delight.

Wilbur notices Tommy's reaction to the hot chocolate and chuckles. When was the last time he ever saw his brother happy with him?

Like always, Wilbur wants to get straight to the point. He never liked wasting time.

"Why did you run away?" Tommy is taken aback by the sudden question, but he soon finds himself laughing.

He doesn't know why he's laughing, but he is. He laughs until he can't.

"Why did I run away?" Tommy gives one last chuckle and takes a sip of his drink. "Because our 'family' was, and still is, complete shit. Why would I want to stay?"

Instead of answering the question, Wilbur thinks of another. "Did you miss us? At least a little?" Tommy doesn't hesitate to answer. "Maybe the week after I left, but after that I moved on and almost completely forgot about you guys. I guess I don't mind being away."

Wilbur can't say he's shocked by the answer, but he is surprised by how easily Tommy answered it. "Almost?" Tommy stays silent for a few minutes before he answers.

"I did think about you guys at some point. Not voluntarily, but whenever I was decorating for holidays, or celebrating my birthdays, I would think about you, Phil, and Techno. So, I don't think I'm really allowed to forget you guys."

Wilbur's chest feels like he just got shot when he hears Tommy refer to their dad as 'Phil'. "Were you alone on your birthdays?"

Tommy chuckles again. Wilbur doesn't think that Tommy is a loner, does he?

"No, of course not. I had my friends with me. They're like family. I actually live with them now!" Wilbur nods his head and asks, "Who do you live with?"

Like any sane person would, Tommy doesn't want to just reveal who he's staying with. It can put them in danger. But Wilbur can't do much, can he? "Purpled and Deo. I met Deo a few days ago, and we've been talking ever since."

"Who the fuck is Purpled?" Wilbur doesn't know why he's getting mad, but he is. "I met him when Quackity gave me that house. I was going to a new school and he came up to me."

Wilbur can't help but feel jealous now. Tommy moved on so easily, meanwhile Wilbur suffered and mourned the potential loss of his youngest brother.

Tommy stays staring at anything other than Wilbur while he waits for a response. He knows it's rude to act like he doesn't care, but honestly, he doesn't.

His entire thought process is confusing him, and he'd rather not think about it so much.

Sometimes he's glad that he has another chance, but other times, he'd rather have them all apologize with a hand-written 20 page essay. Of course, he can't say that aloud.

Tommy sighs and looks at Wilbur, who is currently staring into an abyss.

"So? Will you ever come back to the house? Tech and dad miss you." Tommy scoffs and rolls his eyes. Why would they miss him when they're the reason he left?

"I'll talk to them when I'm ready." Wilbur nods and slowly stands up. "You wanna go to that new restaurant? The workers there miss you." What? Why would some random people miss him? "It's not Phil and Techno, is it?" Wilbur shakes his head and smiles. "It's just some old friends."
