Chapter 6: Trees Can Explode?

Kai POV
I woke up super early. I couldn't stop worrying about Cole. I hope he's getting along with his dad, I thought to myself. I went to the kitchen to grab a glass of milk, where I found...Nya?
"Hey, Nya?"
She turned around. "Yeah?"
"Why're you awake?"
"Couldn't sleep. I keep having nightmares about..." she shuddered.
I hugged her gently. "Can you tell me about it?"
"Yeah. Um... it starts with you, hanging on the end of a bridge, over a large ravine. Then I see Cole, laughing with an evil edge to it. You start to fall, and I try to grab you, but a huge river crashes and takes you away. When it subsides, I look down and see my reflection. Only, it isn't me. It's some girl I don't know and have never seen. She's got black hair with two green streaks and two purple streaks. Her eyes are different colors: purple, and green. And she's just smirking at me, and I can't look away. Then, in the reflection, I see a cloud of darkness behind the girl, and then, I wake up."
I let that digest. "Huh. It doesn't sound like a normal dream. I mean, like, a normal 'inner fears' dream. I'd look into it. Maybe try noticing different things next time, okay?"
"Okay." I gave Nya another hug. "It can't hurt you. It's just a nightmare."
"I know. It's just...scary."
Speaking of scary, we heard a knock at the door. "Who could possibly be up at this hour?" When I opened the door, I saw Cole. How odd. He's early.
"Hey, Firefly. I'm back."
I let him in, and he immediately went to his room. "Nya," I whispered urgently.
"What the heck's wrong with him?"
"I know! He's like, weird!"
"Isn't he supposed to be with Lou?"
"I dunno!" I sighed. "Look, I'm gonna go back to bed, okay?" Nya nodded. "Try to get some sleep."

Yes they can explode
If they reach a high enough temperature and their roots are in water they can explode
