When the physician examined him, it was said he was very drunk and when an investigation was held, it turns out that the pasha had gone out drinking hence lost his footing while on the balcony
Apparently mihrimah and Rustem pasha had gotten into a heated argument and violence was involved. He fell and broke his neck.
