We are sitting in the living room talking, trying to figure out where to go from here.

Sam asks, "Was the last guy you dated
human?"
I think for a second to apply what I have learned, "Now that I think about it, no."
"If you saw his sin, what was it?" Vincent inquires.
"I remember a huge wreck with many fatalities," I say.
Eric asks, "Did you see anything else?"
I close my eyes for a second to recall what I saw, "Just lots of dead bodies and
some blood. He had blood
on him, but now I'm not sure
it was his blood."
Vincent clicks his tongue, "Well...well......well."
I ask, "Do you know him?"
Eric nods, "We know all vampires in the
area and if any new ones
come in. You now too have that
ability because of Vincent and
myself being your mates."

I remember the night I caught him cheating, "He didn't catch me that night when I ran from him at that hotel either. I'm not sure why because if he wasn't human he should have, right?"
Eric thinks for a second, "Your witch abilities probably
protected you and your
speed helped. You just didn't realize it probably from the adrenaline rush you had. He likely assumed he would catch you easily and by the time he
realized how far ahead you
were, he gave up."
Vincent asks, "How'd you know he was
cheating?"
I shrug, "I just knew."
Sam grins, "You probably smelled it on
him."
I tilt my head, "Maybe."
Eric says, "You're so unique Eva. Maybe
the legend of hybrids is true
or at least some of it is."
I huff, "Problem is we don't know
enough. Let's say I'm
supposed to lead a group.
Why? Why now? Are there
others like me?"
Vincent answers, "We have more questions than
answers."

Eric grips the arms of the chair, "There is something we need to do first. If your ex killed those
humans, we need to find him."
I ask, "Why?"
He's agitated. I can feel it.
He looks at me, "Unauthorized feeding same
as what your article is about."
I furrow my brow, "Could he be the one?"
Vincent smirks, "Oh, I hope that he is."

Eric and Vincent must have a history with Victor, if Victor is the one that's killing humans. All I know is that I am glad that Victor has left me alone these past few months. Off and on after I left him two years ago, he would show up places that I frequented. I eventually just stopped going to those places or would alter my schedule. I hated doing that because I craved order. I still do which might be why I am having trouble accepting everything.

Sam asks, "Just what do you guys do
about it?"
Eric says, "It depends on the severity.
He's risked exposing us,
killed innocents, didn't obtain
authorization, and well pissed
me off. Not to mention what he did to Eva!" He continues, "The exposing us and killing
innocents comes with a
sentence of imprisonment or
death."
I say, "I don't care who he was to me or what he did to me. He caused that wreck that I know and if he's left those bodies of those poor girls around the
city, he deserves death."
Eric looks at me fondly, "Well you'll be the one
sentencing him."
My eyebrows shoot up, "Why?"
He says, "You'd be able to see his
memories and tell us. You're
supplying the evidence to
sentence him."
I know Victor, "What if he says I'm lying?"
"Well we will know you're not.
I'll just tell the group the truth," Eric says.
I can't let that happen, "We can't tell them what I am
or that you're all my mates!"
He squeezes my hand, "We won't. We will only tell them that you're my
mate which means I'd see it
too like I did when you saw
my loss."
"Okay. But what about Vincent?" I ask.

Vincent takes my hand in his, "I'll just play the friend role around them, but we all know that you're ours."
Eric grins, "I can share with my friends."
Sam chuckles, "Sharing is caring."
I just shake my head, "Whatever, I'll play along."

Sam turns to me, "We will go to the pack house
tomorrow."
I shakily take a breath, "Okay but I'm still nervous about that."
He puts his hand on my knee, "My pack supports the
neutrality treaty. You don't
smell like a vampire. You will
be fine. You're my mate, they
will accept that."
Looking into his beautiful blue eyes I say, "If they don't, you need to
choose them. Promise me!"
He shakes his head before answering, "It doesn't work like that."
I huff, "Then educate me."

Sam says, "Wolves go through a haze
twice a year. It's similar to
mating season where those that aren't mated claim a temporary mate. For
some that turns into the real
thing but never fated, but for
others it doesn't. Fated is different because it's stronger as they will always be bound to one another."
"So those like you that hadn't found a true mate get two girlfriends
a year for a few months a pop," I say.
He says, "I suppose, but we don't
always fully interact with
them. We tend to keep many
in the friend's zone at least I have."
I reply, "Kinda like after a few dates
you realize friends are better?"
He nods, "Yep but we are stuck longer
than humans. Once you
friend a person you can move
to the next while we are stuck
until the end of the haze." He grins at me, "But when we find that fated
mate, nothing else matters.
That mate is ours for as long
as we live."
I ask, "When is the next haze?"
He tells us that it's the next full moon so we have plenty of time.
I have to ask, "So what happens to me?"
He blinks before he takes my hand, "Oh God don't think that! Eva,
you're my mate. I'll only crave
you more. Werewolves are
monogamous once they've
found their mates."
I sigh, "Well I didn't know."
Sam smiles, "Everything is fine."

I can't not think that I will be discarded. I have never been anyone's priority and I am not sure being a mate will change that.
Vincent glares at me, "Stop saying that you're sorry!"
I look at him, "I didn't say it."
He clicks his tongue, "But you thought it."
I'm annoyed, "I'll start singing again."
With dispersion in his eyes, Sam says, "Please don't."
Vincent yells, "No!"
Eric laughs as I shrug.
Vincent says to Eric, "You like her singing."
Eric says, "I hate her choice in songs
but her voice is quite pleasing."

I joke, "At least someone appreciates
my talents."
Vincent rolls his eyes, "Why my eternity?"
I start to get up, "I can leave you know."
Vincent grabs me, "Don't you dare!"
I grin, "See you do care."

Vincent is so odd, but he has a
charm to him. Also, I find his
intellect a turn-on.
Eric is so relaxed, much like Sam but
more authoritative. They all are so
different yet so similar. I can't help but notice how we all complement each other. We are all various puzzle pieces. We just have to figure out how we fit together.
