HornetShade glanced around, a little startled to find himself in silverpelt. He glanced at his paws and then back up at the valley of stardust. "Welcome HornetShade, you've begun a new life, no?" a wistfully, wispy voice called, filling his ears.
"Uh, yes but, who might you be?" HornetShade mewled, spinning in circles and still unable to find the source of the voice. "Meow-ow-ow! My greatest apologies! I've forgotten to introduce myself!" suddenly a small figure appeared, small and bluish white. The starry cat looked up at Hornet and smiled. "My name is SorrelPaw and I will be guiding you through your journey of leading your new clan. I will grant you nine lives for courage and leadership." Mewed the small, starry figure. "Am I ready? Well, more importantly, am I worthy? I left my clan, I betrayed them, I-"
"No! No, no, no! Of course you are worthy, you are far more than worthy HornetShade. You are a noble, kind, brave, loyal cat!" Mewled SorrelPaw. "I trust you to make wise decisions for CavernClan my friend. You and your clan are destined for greatness." she curled back her lips in a smile.
His surroundings looked like mist or fog that was spotted in little blue fireflies. There were even hills and he could spot the forest of PineClan in the distance. The ground felt warm and wispy on his paw pads, and the wisps of light curled around his tail like water when he moved.
Hornet sighed and nodded slowly, tail brushing the hill of stars beneath him. "Good luck and take care, HornetStar." She purred quietly. She was light blue and slightly transparent, though HornetShade could see hints of color besides the pale blues and purples. She had stripes and spots and her eyes were large and expressive. She was a comforting sight with a comforting smile, HornetShade trusted her fully to help guide his clan successfully.
HornetStar lowered his head and Sorrel touched her forehead to his. A moment later he woke up at the top of the mountain. The sun began to creep up the sky. He was leaning over the edge, the cliffside covered in glowing blue crystals. The large band of stars stretched across the sky as always, and HornetStar thought he could see a singular star shining brighter, that Must've been SorrelPaw. He trotted down the mountain, keeping his ears pricked just in case.
As he padded into the camp he was welcomed back by his clan. "HornetStar! Sir!" One of the apprentices, ThistlePaw darted at him, looking both relieved and concerned. ThistlePaw had just turned six moons, he already had a mentor but had only done a few of training sessions as of yet. He was reddish, with copper and flame colored stripes. His eyes were auburn orange and his tail was long and hooked up. He had soft light orange belly fur and a small brown nose. "Yes, ThistlePaw?" The leader meowed calmly. ThistlePaw tried to catch his breath.
"RoseTooth wishes to speak to you!" He mewed breathlessly. Hornet gave a small nod to the Kit and trailed toward the medicine den. The medicine den entrance was made up of two stalagmites that had grown out pointing at eachother. Lichen hung down the front, draped in front of the entrance to keep the warmth in and the rain out.
HornetStar ducked into the den, the smells of herbs and medical remedies filled his nose. RoseTooth stood with her back turned, smashing a bright red leaf into a waxy yellowish one and then wrapping it in cobwebs.
"What did you need RoseTooth?" HornetStar meowed calmly, licking his paw and running it along the top of his head. "Ah, you're here. Well, I was hoping to speak to you about BonePaw." She meowed in response, turning to him and setting the remedy she'd just created on the stone shelf.
"Yes, and? What about BonePaw?" He asked confidently, his tail thumping on the stone beneath his soft cream fur. RoseTooth gave him a sharp look though stayed quiet. "He's a master with herbs, I should hope to take him on as my apprentice." She mewed.
"Perfect then, I'll call a meeting at Sunhigh, right now it seems everyone wants to get settled. It's been a long few days that we've been travelling." HornetStar purred then exited the den with a small, respectful nod toward RoseTooth.
He found DaisyTrot by the fresh kill pile, she was giving uncertain glances at it. As the leader approached he too saw that the pile was nearly empty. Some hunting had been done on the clan's way from PineClan but not enough.
"Leaf-fall is still upon us," DaisyTrot meowed anxiously. "But LeafBare is soon around the corner. Our clan is not yet ready for LeafBare. We haven't more than a moon left to prepare."
HornetStar took a deep breath and looked into the SheCat's light blue eyes reassuringly. "It will be alright, we are strong. We are fast. We are clever. I have a great feeling that we have StarClan's blessing so that we will get through LeafBare. It will be alright DaisyTrot." He mewed, giving the warrior a comforting smile. Though even he couldn't deny that LeafBare was getting closer and that CavernClan was not yet prepared for the dangers that lie ahead.
