HornetShade felt the pressure of the clan weighing him down. ShallowStar looked down her muzzle at HornetShade as he quivered under the Shecat's gaze. "Well Hornet? What is your explanation? Why have you done these things and forced me to punish you? Hm? Care to answer to your family and your former mentor? Care to explain why you were caught saving a rogue from the rapids? The very rogue that has been stealing from us for moons?"
He sensed the gaze of the whole clan on him. He took a deep breath and stared the leader in the eye, a growl forming in his throat. "I saved a life, and though it is against the warrior code, watching her drown would go against everything this clan stands for and everything I stand for and everything that you stand for. So I have no regrets and I do not need your permission to leave. Those who agree with my choices may accompany me and leave PineClan forever."
He turned around and began to pad off slowly, cream colored splotches on his legs that looked as though he'd splashed through the mud, wavered in the wind. A matching cream splotch on his chest lay in an ocean of cloud white fur. His indigo eyes darted around camp and then back in front of him to the exit.
He sensed hesitation in the crowd when suddenly a familiar voice spoke up. "Farewell PineClan, I agree with Hornet's actions. I will follow loyally in his wake." RoseTooth mewed. "As will I." BrindleDust spoke up, puffing out his chest and raising his chin. "Me too." DaisyTrot and VoleFin meowed proudly and Eight others followed them. ThistlePaw, FoxPaw, and EchoPaw followed their mentors. BonePaw left his mentor behind to follow HornetShade, his chin lifted triumphantly.
HornetShade felt a bit more confident now as they paraded down the hill and towards the mountain. He kept checking behind him to make sure everyone was there. BrindleDust will make a good deputy and RoseTooth will be a good Medicine Cat. I'll find a mentor for BonePaw after I obtain my nine lives from the Moon Ledge.
He found a tunnel in the side of the mountain that led into a series of caves connecting to a giant cavern in the center. The whole place was illuminated by glowing bluish white crystals and lichen that clung to the walls. A stream ran through the cavern, wrapping around a big stone in the very center of the cave. "Welcome to CavernClan." he meowed proudly.
