The bell rang once more, I quickly got up and spotted Asher through the crowds of people. I made my way to him and Colby, seeing them chatting with one another when I walked up to them."Are you guys excited for later?"
I asked excitedly, doing my best to ignore Sam and Hayden approaching us. Taking out my phone and scrolling through instagram, I saw a picture on Hayden's story of her and Sam at a coffee shop.
They must've gone during our break period. The one that Sam and I would go to that exact coffee shop together. Sam got his usual, Hayden getting a Strawberry Dragonfruit refresher, with whipped cream on the top.
" Yeah! What're you going to get? I'm going to get a..."
"Oo I always thought that tasted bitter, I'm getting..."
Their voices drained to a blurr, staring down at my screen as I scrolled through the collage of pictures, all of them being Sam and her. Remembering that tomorrow me and Sam were supposed to be going to be hanging out in the woods at 7, or after dawn.
"[Y/N]? What are you going to get?"
Colby speaked up, noticing her failure to respond.
"Oh- uhm... maybe a [y/o]"
She said, shutting her phone off and shoving it in her pocket. She was interrupted from her thoughts when Colby greeted Sam and Hayden, they were side by side, Hayden's eyes darting around everyone with a small notice of disgust splattered on her face and served to us.
Hayden always thought of my friend group lower than anyone else she talked to, except for Sam of course. She had had her eyes on Sam ever since the two elementary schools located in our town merged into one middle school, and she had met Sam.
"Hey guys! Me and Hayden were about to go and well.."
He paused, looking down at Hayden as if to be silently asking for her permission to speak. Before looking back at us, and continuing his sentence.
"Meet up with some of our friends and you know, chat! What're you doing?"
Sam commented, his blue eyes looking anywhere but at me. Hayden put on that fake little bitchy smile of hers and looked around at us, messing with her hair slightly. Seeing the look of absolute awe and adorness on Sam's face almost gave me a heart attack.
"Uh yeah, that's cool uh we're hanging out, somewhere. We gotta go but see you later Sam?"
Asher said, looking at me slightly after speaking.
"Yeah, it sounds great! See you later."
Said Sam before walking away, not before reaching down and grabbing Haydens hand. My eyes narrowed as I glared at her, that small tint of makeup that certainly is not her shade reddening.
"You good?"
Asher asked, concern coating his voice.
"Yeah, im fine! Just...hate her."
"I get it.."

________________________They left the school, not seeing Sam or Hayden anywhere in sight when we walked down the hallways. The outdoor air struck my jacket as we turned out of the school, it was colder than earlier. Kids of the ages of 14 through 18 fled the school, approaching buses or their cars. It's funny, I couldn't find Sam anywhere.
Our shoes fought against the pavement that has broken down over the years, my bag was slung over my shoulder, the weight of my binder and computer weighing me down slightly.
"It is fucking freezing! Colby. How on earth are you in ripped jeans? And a T-shirt?"
Asher asked in complete absolute shock looking over at Colby who seemed to be doing just fine in the early winter weather. Colby chuckled lightly, looking down to Asher with a certain tint in his eyes.
"I don't know, I think i'm just better"
"Hey-no you're just..uhm...fuck off"
They went back and forth, arguing about random things, I could tell the two of them the interaction.
"Get a room!"
[Y/N] interrupted the pair, their faces flushing bright red and going to say something to retaliate but she had already begun walking a bit faster.
You were able to see the small coffee shop from where they were. It was a small place, not bigger than your local Starbucks but still big enough to have comfy interior and decor. There were plants along the outer walls of it, the style was older, not really fitting into the modernized buildings surrounding it.
Walking in was like a breath of fresh air, the comfy booths and tables with plants scattered around it. There was a small but noticeable scent of vanilla bean, not many people there but there was a group of people I did notice. Almost immediately.
Sam and Hayden next to each other on a booth, Jenna and Mckenna across from them.
"I came here to talk about the shit that's been going on and the shits here...great..."
Colby and Asher exchanged looks as they sat down with [Y/N] at a booth. Conveniently on the other side of the coffee shop. We told Asher our orders, and he went to order them for us. Leaving me and Colby at the small booth, my gaze forward without a single thought running through my mind.
"So..are you alright? You've seemed off ever since Sam and Hayden started to talk."
Colby asked, wanting to soothe her emotions. [Y/N]'s eyes shifted to look at Colby , her back tensing up at the question. She looked back to Sam and Hayden, them laughing together, they were mere inches apart.
"Well.."
Asher came with our drinks and snacks, setting them down on the table with a small grin. He sat next to Colby then directed his gaze to [Y/N], who had a small frown on her face. She took her drink and began to sip it.
(Do you guys sip or chug your drinks? I chug them)
"It's complicated to put it like that..Sam has not communicated with me for basically two days now. Completely ignoring me, even in the classes we sit next to each other in."
Her eyes squinted over to where Sam and Hayden were, scanning what they were all doing. Hayden, Jenna, and Mckenna were getting up. Saying goodbye to Sam before exiting the coffee shop with their drinks, abandoning Sam who had a small smile left lingering on his face.
"He'll talk to me again. Right?"
Colby and Asher exchanged small looks before nodding back at their friend.
"Yeah, we will just give him time. He might be a bit too love-drived to pay attention to anything else at the moment"
Colby said reassuringly, his gaze switching back and forth between me and Asher. Colby was an overall great listener, he was able to share his opinion without it being offensive, he was great at comforting people.
"I'm sure he still thinks of you as a friend though, you're one of his best friends after all"
