Finn yawned as Artemis and Athena left. They chose to leave their normal way, by apparating to wherever their next location was going to be, and the small pop as the air pressure normalized again made Gloria look around curiously. Finn stretched her legs out under the table and opened her mouth to excuse herself for a nap when the phone rang.

Gloria looked at her as she lifted the receiver to her ear. "Hello?" Finn said curiously, there weren't a lot of people with her phone number, although everyone could call her in theory.

"Is this Finn?" The voice on the other end of the line asked. It was familiar but Finn couldn't quite place it.

"This is Finn, who am I speaking to?"

"This is Louise. From the hotel." There was a pause that Finn smiled into.

"Ah, Louise. Have you put any thought into that position I offered you?"

"I have but I have some questions about it before I say yes or no." Louise hedged.

"Alright." Finn accepted that, had been expecting it, and would have paid the woman less if she had accepted without asking questions first.

"Not over the phone though. Could we get together tomorrow? I'll make soup for lunch?"

Finn blinked in surprise and Gloria mouthed 'what' at her, but she shook her head. "That would be lovely. You eat at 12 noon?"

"What other time would I eat lunch?" Louise snapped and then she tsked. "I'm sorry. That was rude. I could take my lunch at any time if the noon hour won't work for you."

Finn grinned. "Noon is fine with me, and don't worry about it. I don't take offense that easily." She hung up the phone and smiled at Gloria. "Louise is curious about the job offer. We'll go see her tomorrow at noon. She's going to make us soup."

"That seems a little strange coming from Louise." Gloria mumbled as she made a note in her journal. "So what are we-" She was interrupted by a strange melody coming out of the phone.

Finn raised an eyebrow and answered. "Hello?"

"My goodness you are a busy lady! I've been trying to reach you all day!" Came the cultured voice over the phone. Finn rolled her eyes.

"It's been less than an hour since I called you, Arthur." Finn chastised the caller.

"Well, if you're going to split hairs that's fine too. At any rate, I'm sorry I missed your call. New job."

"You mentioned that on your answering machine." Gloria frowned in confusion and looked at Finn.

"It's called Voice Mail now darling, and I was hoping you would ask. It's exactly up my alley!" Arthur chattered.

"Everything's up your alley for a little while. All you have is alley's. I don't actually care, I just need to make an appointment with you to meet the Chronicler." Finn spoke calmly, although she could feel her temper starting to rise.

"I'm working with a blood borne contagion research company, they aren't even wanting to take me apart! Humans have come such a long way!" Arthur ignored her and kept on talking and Finn felt her eye start to twitch.

"At the end of my pike is probably the best way to introduce you two. You're right. See you soon." Finn hung up the phone. Gloria stared at her slack jawed in shock. "He'll call back. We don't get along very well, I don't enjoy trying to figure someone out every time I meet them, and he changes personalities like underwear."

The phone rang with the strange melody again and Finn ignored it, crossing her arms over her chest. After a moment it stopped, and then rang the way it had when Louise called. She lifted the receiver down to her ear and waited silently.
