CRIMSON DONOVAN
The walk down the Pine tree forest was calm and relaxing, despite the few jump scares we had whenever an owl hooted or a bat flew by. I held onto Drexel's arm as we treaded through the trees with the aid of the flashlights of our phones.
I had parked my car stealthily in its designated spot at my home while Drexel parked his ride at the bottom of the hill. Luckily for us, it seems that Uncle Josh has gone to sleep after doing his inspections.
It didn't take long when we came to the clearing that was surrounded by the moonlit forest.
It was absolutely breathtaking.
The waters of the lake sparkled like dancing stars under the grey moon that was looking down at us and reflecting light into the surrounding grounds. We slowly step towards the lake, looking around the silent forest that whispered delicate breezes into our faces.
"So magical," I exhale in a whisper and slowly spin around with a smile.
"I'm glad we came here," Drexel says, mesmerized at the sight in front of us. "I had always visited the lake only during the daytime, so this is a first for me."
I too hardly visited the lake at night, so I admire this beautiful scene with an elated smile.
"Do you mind if I take a photo of you?" Drexel asks and I look at him in surprise.
"Did you have to ask? Of course!"
I know that since he kissed me 'without consent' that day at the fateful race, he's been overthinking every possible situation.
"Let's take a picture together!" I suggest after he snaps a random picture of me. With the lake as the background, we take a selfie with our heads touching and smiles beaming across our faces.
I frown as I inspect our picture, "Come on! Our first picture as a couple and it is blurry..."
"We don't have enough lighting," Drexel reasons. "But I'm going to keep it."
"Hmm," I scowl before muttering, "Send it to me too."
Drexel let out a chuckle before taking me in his strong arms and spinning us around. My heart was euphoric, I was elated and I wouldn't change this for anything.
"Thank you so much for today, Crimson," Drexel whispers as he brings his forehead down to mine.
"Thank you for accepting me even though we both know the risks. Thank you for giving us a chance. I swear, I'll make these your happiest two years ever," he promises again, showing how serious he was even though there was an invisible floating dark cloud above our heads, waiting to be stormed.
My eyes zone onto his lips and he does the same to mine. My heartbeat quickens as we lean closer, but before our lips can touch, Drexel hastily brings them up to my forehead and plants a kiss there instead.
